Harrowing News

Not really, but never miss the chance of a good pun I say. Our own Panjandrum was signing books in Harrow (which is in North London for our overseas readers) last night, as per schedule, and my friend Owen, otherwise known as LJ user addedentry, was there. I quote from hs report;

'Mr Fforde lived up to expectations: he was urbane, unpretentious without false modesty, better-looking than his jacket pic and, well, a complete sweetie. He spoke candidly about his trials en route to publication and how his ideas had been improved by the copyright restrictions on using other people's fictional characters. It's obvious that he's a literary geek: he'd had rubber stamps made to decorate our title pages and offers a Book Upgrade Service for typos and plot holes'.

I didn't know Mr. Ff was urbane; I thought he lived in the country ...

Today and tomorrow Mr Ff is popping round bookshops in London signing stock, I had to ring Emma (his publicist) to get him to go to London Wall that had sold out of signed hardbacks and wanted some more signed.

Oh Jon... Official Stalker heh? You've kept this a secret Mr Stalker Grade 2 of a Celebrity Grade 9
:-)
Jasper told us all about it on Monday...

Ugh. Two bad puns in one post - isn't there a law against this?

Mr. Fforde has got a big mouth. I was saving it for a surprise at the Leeds do. I've got a sweatshirt and an identity tag and everything. On the other hand, I never told him that, so it's my own fault.

Claire: You're never going to wear that in public, are you?
Jon: I wear a Torquay United shirt in public .... how can this be any worse?
Claire: Good point.

Be careful. Otherwise Jon will end up on a mission and see it as his duty to up his pun count even further.

But me and Susan aren't going to be at the Leeds do...

I said it was you, Susan guessed Ben at first so we asked Jasper to confirm...

Mmm, wonder how many puns per 100 words he could manage? ...No! No! I didn't mean it!

Now the moggilicious is out of the tin, how come it got mentioned anyway? (Owen mentioned it too, so I daresay it's in the script, so to speak). In what context do Official Stalkers slip naturally into the conversation?

100 words eh? I do love a challenge.

I've done bugger all stalking, so that was always a long shot... #Now I know there's an official designation though.....

Talking of bad puns, I actually clicked on this thread expecting something about ploughs. A wasted opportunity, one feels...

At this distacne I could possibly count as a grade 23 stalker, but that could be a stretch.

How long a stretch would it be - 6 months seems about right for stalking in my book.

"In my book"? What's the title, and is it yours as the author or as a character? :-)

My book as in 'the book that I own', Ok so I haven't got thousands like the rest of you. Actually it's more of a magazine than a book, well when I say magazine I really mean pamphlet, maybe pamphlet is pushing it a bit, sheet of A4 may be technically more accurate and so what if it's blank. OK I admit it I don't have any books or even paper of any kind, there now doesn't that feel better.

I'm sorry I sort of went off on one there, normal service will be resumed forthwith.

Yeah. Be careful Adam. Using up all those words at once ;-)

When's the wedding ? Is it today we should be offering our best wishes and advising you to run now while you've still got the chance - or can we leave that till next Friday ?

Note to bookjumpers - do not visit Adam without your Jurisfiction guide. You will find yourself trapped and having to jump into washing labels.

The Wedding is a week today, folks. Claire is e'en now out with The Girls on the Hen Night. (Note Portentous Initial Capitals of Doom).

We've got off pretty lightly out of all this ... no smelly rellies billeted on us, and all I have to do on Der Tag is ush. Still, we paid our dues just over a year ago, so I reckon we deserve a break.
