There was a 'world championship' for marbles held somewhere in England (in Sussex, IIRC) earlier this year, apparently as one in a series of annual contests: I don't know how world-wide the selection of teams actually was... England lost to Germany in the finals.

And the 'World Pea-Shooter Championships' are also held somewhere in southern England. Apparently the rules about the sizes of pea-shooter allowed, ammunition allowed, ranges & targets, have all been defined for some time... but a couple of years ago there was a dispute about whether coaxial sighting lasers were acceptable!

Re conkers _ Where I grew up, on the western outskirts of London, boiling or pickling (or baking) them was regarded as cheating...
