*blush* Whoops, you got me bang to rights! I actually had forgotten that - this virus has been doing weird things to my short-term memory. (I forgot to have pudding after dinner on Tuesday. I just don't do that.) This is why I keep asking people to remind me of things at the moment.

I'm feeling better than I was, but it's taking longer to shake off than I anticipated. In the meantime, if my posts are weird even by my usual standards, you know why!

*seriously worried now* your posts are making perfect sense to me, Sarah... you don't think I have the virus as well? Waaaah!

the secret was actually that Jasper was going to the dinner afterwards....

Yes. I know. But all I said was he went to Leeds.

Oh, you'd know. It starts with a runny nose, then that clears up and you feel almost OK for a while, then the fever hits you. You run a temperature for about a day, and then it takes a couple more days for you to stop feeling groggy and forgetting things. Oh, and you also feel very slightly sick throughout the process.

Hope everyone here manages to avoid it; I'm pretty sure I was no longer infectious last night, as I was over the worst of it!

Just because Sarah mentioned Jasper coming to dinner in her blog, doesn't mean that everyone on the fforum would know about it. I have enough trouble just keeping up with the fforum.

And I still don't know why Jon wasn't there, unless it's mentioned in a thread I haven't got around to reading yet. Jasper asked where his official stalker was.

Actually, Skiffle, you couldn't see my blog at the moment anyway, because it's got security protection on it. You're welcome to look if you want, but you have to open an account on Blurty to do it, add me to your friends list, and then e-mail me to get me to add you back. (The e-mail bit is important because I often don't notice someone has added me.)

Dave R had to plough through 75 spam e-mails when he finally got back to his computer. That shouldn't have to happen to anyone.

I shall do so with pleasure. Don't forget to add me back - the link has to be two-way or it won't work!

(Edit: oh, you already have. D'oh and again d'oh. Tomorrow I hope to get my brain back!)

And tell Dave R to get Mailwasher; it's free and it works pretty well. I've had on here for a week and it hasn't let any spam slip through yet.

It only works with pop3/SMTP mail accounts, though, so I can't use it at home on my aol account (which is why my primary account is now whitelist-only).

Hello to the people who said hello to me (and everyone else!)

Sarah: It was me with the hair spiked up at the front! I remember you, skiffle and dave rainbow - you asked a question or two didn't you?

Hi also to Rob and Dante if you were sitting behind me. This is quite strange - I posted on these boards for the first time on Wed - If I'd been here a bit earlier I could have met you guys properly. I knew there were forum people there, but I was a bit shy and didn't know who anyone was!

Hope you all had a good time at the meal (i'm guessing you did from the teasing going on!)

J.

Yes, I asked the question about which part of his own work Jasper would most like to jump into if he could, and he finally decided it would have to be the audience-participation Richard III. And, yes, everyone had a great time, including the cuddly birds, although the acoustics in the restaurant left a lot to be desired so it was quite difficult to hear all the conversation.

Jon: does Mailwasher work with Hotmail? And where can one get hold of it? I think DR would be almost tearfully grateful if he could get something to stop all the spam - it's driving him distracted. (Forgive my ignorance, but I've no idea what a pop3/SMTP e-mail account is.)

Mailwasher will work with Hotmail, but only if you pay for it - I believe it's not expensive - see www.mailwasher.net for the details.

Thanks for the tip, Jon, it gets on my 'to do' list - but you don't want to see my 'to do' list ---

Have downloaded the Leeds pics from the strange new camera using its strange new software and have some pics for WN that are, well, strange. For those of you who haven't met her, Dante's inferno may come to have a new meaning.

(except by running away and not looking at any of the photos...)
