Or a Fibonacci (if that's the correct spelling) series, maybe?

Ah, yes, the logistic equation. Blowed if I can remember what it is now, but it did lead to some very lovely chaos...

I hope not Fibonacci. That gets very big, very quickly...

I set it as an exam question the other year and had to adapt the question because the numbers became too big to display.

Yes I know power series can be just as bad. Just sowing a little confusion and false drama.

Fibonacci can be written as a power series using the golden ratio. All very clever. I love the way maths all ties in.

Funny how it all works without having to know about itself, isn't it?

Also, I remember at 'A' level being struck by the thought that electrons do not carry pocket calculators.

Quantum Mechanics in BSc was a blast as well. I used to have fun when people said they 'felt they'd finally understood it'. I took this as a sign that they probably didn't.

Must mail you a conundrum sometime, Rob. I found it when I was 16 and only analysed it out over twenty years later. Inbetween a few learned heads were surprised by it. I probably can't remember my analysis now either.

If we're doing Fibonacci, no black pepper on mine, please.

(Yes, mine's the coat with 'numbskull' on it, thanks ....)

Well, I know we had a lot of folks pop in when LIAGB was released in the US and Jasper toured there. Only a few of those folks appear to have stuck around, although some may still be lurking but not posting.

Certainly at least half the people with profiles have made fewer than 10 posts in total, so we have a lot of folks who've either drifted away, or mostly lurk without posting.

Jon: It's like the old story my physics teacher used to tell of how he used to get out of pretentious conversations by insisting the Kafka played left back for Newcastle.

Yes, but of course Zola did play for Ch***ea (and possibly still does, but I'm woefully behind on the summer transfer news!).

Rob: Actually, the logistic curve could be the one to look for - especially as posts generate posts in the form of replies, giving you the feedback required to make it work. Good thinking that man.

I'm not looking forward to the backlog after 2 weeks away (going to Crete tomorrow - this time in 15 hours time I'll be on the beach :) ), as I'll only have 3 days to catch up before I move to Bristol, and lose the Internet...

I think I've got about a thousand posts to read before I've caught up.

Or not.

I'm nearly caught up, tonight. I've been a little bit behind since last Tuesday - checked briefly on Thursday and a bit longer on Friday, but then not at all till today. I think. But it was only halfway down the second page.

Still, I'd be getting on faster if it wasn't marking my own posts as new ones. Which they *are*, but.... somehow not the point.

Just found out that Zola went to Cagliari on a free transfer a couple of weeks ago.

You've done it now, though. Next time I put the radio on for a Newcastle game, whoever's in the left back slot will end up getting called Kafka as far as I'm concerned!
