room for a newbie??????
Posted by: Anonymous User (---.nas.onetel.net.uk)

Hi, I'm Sam, a 31 yr old Jasper Fforde nut who finally got her arse round to finding this website :)
Discovered him (Fforde) quite by accident in Waterstones a couple of yrs ago and am hooked. Currently working my way thru the Well of Lost Plots in between work and taking care of my 16 month old - not got too far yet, but managed to get far enough to find the password to get me into the deleted scene section ;)

*shouts*

Guys? Do we have room for a newbie?

*listens to silence*

Ah well, no objections - grab a drink and make yourself at home!

More seriously - welcome to the fforum!

Hi Sam, hello and welcome, I'm still quite newbyish myself but there doesn't seem to be many revered elders around at the moment, apart from PSD, who isn't revered and who apparently isn't all that old either, they might all be on that there new fangled chat room, but come in and have a good poke around anyway while everyone is out.

I think the correct verb for my presence is 'infest'...

Welcome Sam! I've been kicking around here almost as long as PSD and am old enough to be his mother, but if anyone calls me a "revered elder" I shall guffaw.

Still plenty of room here as far as I can see!

I did try and type 'revered elder' with my tongue in cheek but it looked like

What's more worrying is she didn't say which cheek. Heh.

Hello Sam and a very, very warm welcome! Get your 16 month old set up with an account as well; s/he will make perfect sense compared to us I assure you :)

Hi Sam

For future reference:

16% of what is said on the Fforum is meaningful
12% is gibberish
the rest is fish puns

Have ffun.

I've been here for two months (first post 28/5). It seems so much longer. Does that make me still technicaly a newbie or have I progressed to middlebie yet? And when does one become an elderbie? I know PSD is classed as an infestation, so I guess however long he's been here can be said to be too long.

Welcome, Sam... I've only been here for a few month myself, but already find it hard to remember how I lived before discovering the fforum.

There's a 'Meet the fforum' thread (somewhere a few pages back in the 'Older threads' list) in which various contributors answer questions about themselves, and an even older thread (called 'Birthday list' ?) in which some of us told the others our ages... IIRC the current range is from 12 to 62 years old.

And some of "the rest" is duck puns rather than fish puns....
