Sooo...on Thursday night Jasper was talking and signing in Glasgow. I was slighly late (at least, I thought I was just on time - I think he must have started early...) and then wandered around a bit looking for the people I was supposed to be there with, before finding them in a bit of the audience I couldn't see from upstairs.
It was quite busy - I'd say it was busier than Leeds, maybe 50 people there and lots of others hovering for 10 mins or so at the top of the stairs, listening. The main thrust of the talk was the same as Leeds - how he got into writing, how he got published, how he writes - but there were quite a few bits and bobs that were different. (I was impressed.) I was up the back taking notes on my Palm Pilot, which is a bit sad, really...
Snippetry: Daddy Bear's name is Gus Bruin.....Jane Austen was the Stephen King of her day.....he framed the post-it with his soon-to-be-agent's name and phone number on it.....the only thing he got paid for as a cameraman was a French Fancies ad.....the Neanderthals will be back in book 4.....he has two types of writing days, wordage and combing.....thursday is based on women aviators like amelia earnhardt.....scotland will turn up eventually, and have something to do with engineering.....he's a maccie.....another possible title for 4 is Paragraph Lost, but that would mean Lost is in 3/4....
I got my other books signed, as well as one for a birthday present, and chatted to Jasper and Mari briefly. There was a fire alarm at 6am in their hotel the day after the Leeds signing...aargh!
It was great, again - Thanks, Jasper!
