US readers unite!!!

Hello eveyone ! A few of the American readers in the chat room are trying to plan a get together. We would like your input about dates and times. There are a lot of us that live on the East Coast or thereabouts, so it would be really easy for us to have a party!

First time I read this I thought it was the old joke about dyslexia -

"Sufferers of daily sex untie!"

That'll teach me to read this without my glasses on...

This is the work of an Italian narco-anarchic collective. Don't bother insulting them, they can't read English anyway.

Hey slightcap, thanks for posting it. Being stuck out in the boring midwest, I would welcome an opportunity to get out to the east coast. Veteran's Day weekend, maybe?

Slightcap I think any long weekend would be great. Dog friendly lodging would be preferable so the Butler doesn't have to go to daycare.

I will be visiting my brand new niece in FL over Labor Day weekend and out of the country for MLK. I am still voting for Veteran's Day. Memorial day might work but it's soooo far away. Ditto July 4th.

Don't forget Thanksgiving weekend and Columbus Day.

I don't have Columbus Day off, and I figured that Thanksgiving Day would be out because people would want to be with their families. But those are options.

I have Columbus Day and Lincoln's and Washington's birthdays. Also Pulaski Day, which I think is unique to the City of Chicago. (Oh, the joys of being a government employee...)

Columbus Day is a floater for me. Lincoln and Washington I don't.

Usually after a day and a half with my family, I'm ready to escape. That's why I suggested Thanksgiving.

Nicky - When is Pulaski Day?

March 3rd. Although I haven't figured out if it's the same day every year.

Uh huh. And the significance of Pulaski Day?

Birthday of General Casimir Pulaski. He's googlable (is that a word?), but basically minor Polish nobility, fought with George Washington, implemented the American cavalry. There are a lot of Polish people in Chicago...

There's a lot of Polish people in Jersey too. And we've got a Pulaski highway.

So why don't we have the bloody holiday???????

Tracy, I thought you were in Connecticut.

NYC apparently has a Pulaski Day parade, but for some reason they hold it in October. Maybe it's one of those holidays that everyone gets to personalize for him/herself, like Election Day. ;-)

Speaking of good holidays...the best one I ever heard of is the Crab and Goat Races held annually in Tobago at Easter time.

I am in Connecticut but with a great many relatives in Jersey. If you spend enough time in Jersey it sort of seeps into your skin.

Yeah, New Jersey is kind of infectious like that - like it or not, it becomes a part of you :o)

I really never spent any time there, except for a wedding once in Cape May. Very pretty! And the Newark airport--less pretty.

Yeah, you really want to avoid Newark. The Oranges don't smell so good either.

The beaches are great though and so is the shopping.

I think we should have our get together in Jersey! Or as it is really said, Joysy.
