I know Andrea and I have both seen it, but I don't know if anyone else has, so thanks for that!

It was on the radio this morning - they were also suggesting other programmes that could be updated - my favourite was Citizen Smith as a disillusioned Blairite!

I'm a bit dubious myself; the only 'revisited <foo> years later' show that ever really worked was 'The Likely Lads' (which was actually better second time around).

I suppose they could always redo all those Perry & Croft shows like Hi-de-Hi or Allo Allo .... only this time as comedies.

It's got Paul Darrow in it, therefore it won't be unremittingly awful. I do hope, however, that he gets some other strong actors to spark off; even the best actor can't quite reach the heights if the rest of the cast aren't up to it. It would be like asking David Beckham to play for, say, Sheffield Wednesday.

All questions regarding whether or not Jacqueline Pearce will be in it have been very deftly fielded without an answer, so I'm hoping that means she will... daaaaaaarlings!

A friend of mine handed me a print out of that feature (I'm fairly sure it's the same one), this evening (forgot to bring it home so I can't check instantly if we're talking about the same thing). I was surprised to see it presented as 'news', when the project has been in development for about three years now and has had its own website for a year or so.

I forgot the print out because having read it, it didn't really tell me anything I didn't already know.

Well, yes, I am a fan, so I'm more likely to know than the world at large, but I'm just pointing out that it hasn't exactly been a secret, either.

I think the website says none of the original cast are involved except Darrow, ergo no Pearce.

Yes, it has indeed been in development for about three years now, but nothing seemed to be happening, and certain cynics *coughcoughAlanStevenscough* were loudly voicing their opinions that nothing was ever going to happen.

Does anyone know where I can find some well written Blake's Seven fanfiction on the web? Nothing X rated. I think I'm asking Google the wrong questions.

Try fanfiction.net, it's usually a good place to start. Then you can find authors you like and google for them, and then there's usually webrings and stuff from their sites...

You can also get fanfic from Paul Darrow's official fan club site at www.avon-paul-darrow.co.uk (sorry - can't remember how to do a link, as I left the relevant information at home!). It's not online - you have to order it in print. The quality is not particularly consistent, but I can guarantee that anything by Gillian Puddle or Marian de Haan will be a good read. If you like wild surreal comic parodies, then Ros Williams will also appeal, but she's not to everyone's taste. I've liked some of her stories but found others a little too silly.

There are one or two things there by a Sarah McEvoy. Umm, that's me, folks! (I like to write under a pen name.) I think I want to rewrite just about everything of mine they've ever printed, but it's there if anyone is interested.

Skiffle's also done some good B7 fanfic, but I'll leave it to her to explain how and where to get hold of it.

I used to love this programme to bits when I was younger. Definitely had a crush on Avon. Maybe it was all that black leather and glowering...

Always Vila for me when I was younger. Until I started watching it again on Sky, then Avon made a lot more sense. (yep, the leather was a definite plus)

I agree. Didn't see the show for 15 years then watched it on Sky and still got a bit hot and bothered about Avon. What slightly disturbs me now is that I was 6 years old when the show ended - That's an early age to be into black-clad rogues!

What disturbs me is that I was 17 when it finished - I must have been a very naive teenager.

I had an op a few years ago and my sister who is a sadist, sent me a get well card with Paul Darrow as Avon looking mean, moody and magnificent on the front, inside read "OK, now it's time for me to give you a bed bath" just try laughing when you've got a gut full of stitches!

One of my favourite real-life Paul Darrow stories:

Paul and his wife Janet have always kept dachshunds. On one occasion when Janet was away, Paul could find no-one to look after the dachshund and had to take it onto the set of Blake's 7. All went well until Avon and Servalan were due to get into a clinch (I imagine it must have been the first episode of the third series, Aftermath). As Paul put his arms around Jacqueline Pearce, he was suddenly aware of something pressing against his leg. He and Jacqueline both looked down to see the little dog standing on its back paws, leaning its front paws against Paul's leg, and staring up at them soulfully as if to say, "Daddy! It's a cuddle! Can't I join in?"

Never say Avon couldn't laugh. :-D
