Long Service Award

I get my Long Service Award today as I've been with the company for five - yes only five - years.

So what does it say about the company if five years is deemed as being 'Long Service'?

A Chrome Pens (I get two) and Pencil set made by Cross if you're interested. It was supposed to be gold and not chrome, but I don't do gold (looks tacky) and told them that if they insisted on giving me gold stuff, it would find its way to a car boot PDQ. So they backed down.

Ten years gets you a gift of your choice (within reason) up to the value of £200. I'd have preferred a gift of my choice (within reason) up to the value of £100 for my pressie - there are some nice antique shops round here!

Never mind Auntie, you've nearly made 500 posts on here now - we'll have a whip-round once you have (though I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you!)

Still nice to have some sort of recognition though I should think! I know a fellow who's just retired from the Civil Service after doing 40 years and he didn't even get so much as a thankyou let alone a parting gift from his employers (though his colleagues at work gave him a good send-off by all accounts)

I think we will get an extra day holiday after 3 or 4 years...

But I hope not to be here by then

We get an extra day of holiday for each year for up to five years, but we have to work bank holidays so it's not that great.

As for me, I'll work my fingers to the bone and what will I get? Boney fingers.

I have no holidays, no sick days, no pay, no super-annuation (retirement plan). I work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and if I do want any time off I have to make sure there are people to cover my job before I consider it. I could go on (and often do) but I guess by now those of you who didn't already know can guess what my job is.

Yes, I'm a Garbo!

I know that the Employment Service (as was) gave employees lump sums of cash on reaching various milestones on their tour of duty. I didn't realisitcally manange five months before I was spending more time at home than at work, so I guess I'll never earn any long-term prizes.

Some friends of mine work(ed) for Insight. At the end of their first year, they got a largish clear perspex cube - with their name and the Insight logo carved into it, if I remember correctly. Kelly also got one for doing really well on some project. Bet he was thrilled......

my job has great bonuses for long term service...for every year I'm in it, I'm entitled to even more of the pie if for some reason the "business" should split :)

Not that it's gonna, but one never knows!

btw, I'm a domestic goddess with a broadband connection and a hubby who adores her ...what more could a girl want??

1) Chocolate.

2) A bra that fits (not meant personally, it seems to be universal).

actually, I'm not the biggest fan of chocolate (I know, GASP!) but it does have its place....I like it but I'd rather have a fruit type or cream dessert :)

and yes, I would love to find a bra that fit well. I have 2 that are very comfortable and supportive (unfortunately, neither are terribly attractive!) but am always on the lookout for more!

Lucky old you. Anyone with AAC's problem, contact Sarah. I do the IT, she does the personal fitting (though we've never yet crossed an ocean to do so!)
