Thanks Ptollers, 3rd generation retailer, natch. (Have I moved to the USA since I started going to the chat room????)

I've had customers who've had operations both ways. I think there is more of a need for bespoke manufacture for 'minority' sizes and shapes. There must certainly be enough ladies in the USA to make it pay.

Honestly Twila don't be too set on it till you've seen Sarah. She has a friend who used to think she was 36DD who asked me to pop round. As soon as I arrived I knew she wasn't, so said nothing until she'd tried them all on. She came back down and described her 'symptoms', and when I advised this must mean she was a 34E (I didn't say, or larger cup) she practically burst into tears. Why? Insults and bad service from bra shops just for being a double D. Dead set on a reduction.

Sarah encouraged her for a while - she wasn't working for me then - and we gradually coaxed her to try some 34E's, then 34Fs. Suddenly, wonderment and comfort! And, a figure most men would --- well, you can guess. She's gone up to a 34FF now, and we are still able to get her fancy bodies, colours, matching suspender belts, prettty panties -- not hard in a 12 at the bottom, but hard to get a match to a 34F/FF bra. Now she just thinks she's gorgeous, and she is too. Any woman that thinks she's gorgeous, pretty much is. (Gentlemen take note. Want a sexy girlfriend? Tell the one you've got how wonderful she is. WARNING - GENERALIZATION!)

Oh, and a customer in 48D who liked bodies. Got her any amount of variety of them in any colour you like from Ulla of Germany, special import. Happily paid £500 for 8 (reduced!) and took then home and took the wires out as they were too low for her as she was tall. She got what she wanted. I say Bravo! (By the way, for Bravissimo customers, did you know that was the masculine of Bravissima?)

REGRETFUL ANOUNCEMENT
*********************

The best bras for a combination of comfort and shape are the Lov'Ring bras by Lovable Italiana. Why the regret? They are no longer available in this country by reason of being bought out by Sara Lee (makes sign of cross) who have many companies in many countries. To rationalise, they decided not to advertise, or sell products out-of-country.

And the bloody things are patented!

EVEN MORE REGRETFUL ANNOUNCEMENT

This 'shop' is closed until Monday. It's nice to be with my kids, but it's also a nuisance to be away from any form of computer.

Come Monday, ask away - very very rarely do we fail to solve a problem.

In the meanwhile, you can look at the 'old' version of the site, see
www.doublerainbow.co.uk
where there's lots of good advice, but soon it will be better in every way.

Enjoy your weekend, one and all.

Ah so I haven't been forthcoming have I....

Well Dave, as you have taken the weekend off.... I'll reply to you on Monday.

I agree with Carla and PSD however. Underwires are much more comfortable but are horrible when they break. Having one "snap" in the middle of a meeting with a very important client I can also tell you that a white shirt is probably not a good idea to wear to visit clients, JUST IN CASE.

Embarassing and not the least bit comfortable.

Dave/Sarah - What a fantastic site! I go for Freya by Fantasie (when I can track it down), but couldn't find it on your site - do you stock it? Cotton rich and very comfortable.

I find I vary between a E or F depending on the make. But there's one Playtex style (can't remember it's name) that fits me in either! Let us know when the new site is up and running.

I once had to buy white 100% cotton with no underwire for medical reasons. They were, to put it mildly, not easy to find. Finally, I had to buy them at a discount shop in the wrong size. Thank gsd it was only temporary! :(

It's a great site isn't it? I'm off up to Sheffield later this month - I can resist most things but glamorous lingerie? Nae chaunce!

Can I just say that over on alt.fan.pratchett the topic of lingerie and fitment thereof came up (wasn't me started it, guv) and of course I pointed them at Double Rainbow, and I believe you may get at least one customer out of it.

And to think, before I joined this Fforum I knew nothing of bras.

I was skimming through an interesting-but-slightly-too-expensive book in a shop a few years ago. It was about sport, and had a section on Damon Hill and Jacques Villeneuve; both succesful Formula 1 drivers, who were sons of F1 drivers. It included a description of Graham Hill as looking like the sort of man who could hold a cocktail glass in one hand, while unfastening some popsie's bra with the other.

I think Graham Hill would have liked that description.
