Important Pantomine News!

OK, I've got a list (I think) of everyone who wants in.

Ptolemy
Tracy
Sarah B
PSD
Skiffle
Sarah
Minsky
Jen
Kaz
Intrigue
Nicky
Bluebottle
Auntsassy
ilovespike
Splat21
Dante
Jon
Simon
AAC
Holly Daze
KT

Is that it?

Right, if so I need to know who you all want to be.

PSD is being an ugly stepsister I think, but other than that I know not.

If you want to be Cinderella, say so. If you want someone else to be Cinderella, say so. If you want to be Mr/Mrs Townsperson then say so. So far I have nine parts for all those people, so I need some extra smaller bits.

At the moment I have:

Cinderella
Prince Charming
Fairy Godmother
Stepsister1
Stepsister2
Stepmother
Baron Hardup
Audience (Holly Daze)
Popcorn Seller (KT)

The (people) are on request by them. Any more characters?

OK, let me know and I'll start casting.

I'm adding Audience (Carla) to that list...

Sorry I missed you Sarah. Needed to leave desk for a few minutes.

I have not preference for part other than not a very large one. Someone rather unobtrusive would be fine.

Sarah B--willing to participate wherever needed. Would prefer to not play a cat.

I think I heard my name mentioned for the other Ugly Sister (along with PSD), which is fine by me. Don't want to put Kaz's nose out though.

I'm a bit old to be Buttons after all - I'm sure as hell no Prince Charming - and who ever heard of a hippy Lord Chamberlain?!

Doesn't the Fairy Godmother usually have a couple of Trainee Fairies as well, incidentally?

I'm sure there's roles for everyone.... Role up! Role up!

I can't believe I forgot Buttons.... oops.

We could find some trainee fairies I'm sure....

Forgetting Buttons could be your undoing, Sarah...

Put me down for a trainee fairy. I'm already part witch, might as well play a fairy.

Doesn't the Prince have a young equerry who acts as his aide? I seem to remember Julian Clary playing that role one year at the Theatre Royal in Bath, I didn't see the panto but read a review in the local papers. Plenty of scope for lines like, "Did you find the gypsies camp?" "yes, some of them" (heh)

The Lord Chamberlain kinda acts as an "official" whenever a straight character's needed - introduces guests to the ball, that kinda thing. That's my reading of it anyway.

We can't do this as a "straight" Cinderella though, we've got to introduce Nextian aspects!

How about a runaway Mammoth so we can have people shouting "he's behind you"?

Not being overly familiar with the panto, can anyone outline the various parts for me?

I saw Julian Clary in Taboo, the Boy George 'story' he was absolutely hilarious, very clever and ad libbed like mad....... so rude to the audience.

Yeah, a little enlightenment would help round about now.

I'd still like to play something wicked; although "Wicked Townsperson" will do (as long as a forced marriage and death scene is included).

there will need to be lots of extras for the ball scene...especially when the prince is introduced to all the eligible ladies

Sorry Carla, with panto you cant just sit there , audience paricipation is expected, in fact demanded, or else it wouldn't be panto, think of it a bit like Jaspers Richard the III.

I'll be either the pumpkin (pre-transformation) - but what noises does a pumpkin make? Squelch, perhaps? Not sure I'm large enough to play the coach! or I'll help Holly and Carla be the audience (unless you really do want me to prompt?!)

It mainly consists of yelling things like... "He's behiiiiind you!", "Oh no he didn't!" "Oh yes you did", booing and hissing the villain and doing those wavey things... I know what I mean.
