Strange... I am British.... well I have the passport but I was born in Zimbabwe... I still say I am Zimbabwean but just to keep out of trouble I say I am from the UK. "there is no such thing as a white Zimbabwean" is what I have been told.

Nem, are girls allowed to were those nice gingham skirts that the men wear, now?

(Did you know that the Irish invented the bagpipes as a joke. The Scots, just haven't got it yet.)

Call me crazy, but if I was going to forge currency, I'd make them look at least *slightly* like the commonest sort around...

The jokes on them then cos all the pipers I know make an absolute fortune playing at weddings etc! So hardee har har har!!!!

Scottish money is so much nicer AND we take English money cos we are accomodating and not snobby!!!!

Being a Scot representing the country I will wear the traditional Tartan mini kilt, black ballet pumps and a fitted Scotland rugby shirt!

Munches short bread, downs an irn bru (I notice that you lot have started drinking that down south!)

Starts playing the Proclaimers on the pipes (HA! beat that for patriotism, go on, how long can you stand it- must be the most tuneful experience ever!)

I would pay pipers to play at weddings: I hardly ever go to them!

When we last went to Glasgow, the place was full of people practicing for the World haggis-strangling contest. They were on almost every street corner. I suppose that no-one would let them indoors.

Erm, Nemades, I'm as Scots as you are, and not a snob at all...

and Skids it depends very much who you give them to and what kind of mood they're in, I find, though yep, I'd agree.

putting the joking aside for a (very) short time, I like most varieties of bagged pipe instruments - uilleann, Northumbrian, Border, even Scottish small pipes. However, the full bagpipes and the Spanish gaita both jar.

In the context of Zimbabwe, though, it does seem a bit petty of me, doesn't it?

I blame it on the squirrels, myself.

Was it the Ancient Egyptian Priest references that convinced you?

It was the reasoned argument, the convincing references to back up statements and my ardent love of von Daniken's books.

(I also like Robert Rankin's Illuminati hat. I find that I get more space on buses and trains, even in rush hour, when I wear a copy of it.)

Lymond you are a gem! Not only have you spent some 'funny' money but you Ceilidh dance - sends cig cyber kiss your way! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Strip the Willow, especially with young farmers, it is so much fun when a big guy tries to spin you off your feet and you manage to over turn him, my arms are usually so sore the next day but it is sooooo soo much fun - we should really have a ceilidh in the Tree House, it is such a good work out, hopefully our band is going to have a ceilidh in June, I even have a suitable dress - i.e. straight cut not v cut! As accidents often happen at ceilidhs!
