If anyone wants to zoom around on a skateboard at 40 mph in the altogether in this weather, he must have antifreeze where his blood ought to be. Just imagine the wind chill factor around the proverbials!

The kite carts sound like more fun than kite-surfing to me. Less opportunity for falling into *cold* sea. Perhaps if someone were to whisk me away to the balmy shores of the Med or the Caribbean, I might be willing to give it a try.....

I should mention that the naked boarding guy lives in Hawaii, so no testicles for tonsils related issues there. Skiffle - you can wear a wetsuit, you know. They make virtually everybody look really toned as they squeeze you into a better shape...

H'mmm. If I were Skiffle, I'm not entirely sure I'd take that as a compliment! ;-)

Just what I was thinking !

It was meant neither as compliment or criticism, actually. I have no idea which bits of Skiffle would need squeezing if at all. If anything does need squeezing, however, I humbly offer my services...

Didn't you two used to do this sort of thing in private?

I think I scared her. Or possibly scarred...

I've just seen a "Latin capital U with diaresis" - it sounds like it needs urgent medical attention.

I always used to have trouble pronouncing that word when I was a little girl.

Which word - diaresis ? I don't recall that I often had much call to use that word when I was a little girl. Or ever since, in fact.

I've only discovered it today, and I'll forget it again tomorrow.

Er, yes. I used to be a pretty omnivorous reader.

I haven't really changed much!

Sarah, I wish your sig didn't have a reference to chocolate. I'm starting to get peckish and I need to cut down on the sweet stuff.

Now either Ed promised to phone me at 9 and forgot, or I was meant to phone him at 9. Going to log off for a bit and phone Sheffield. (especially as I phoned Annie earlier and got a juicy bit of gossip about a married couple splitting up while I've been away. It looked like happening last year but things seemed to calm down, so surprised, but not surprised, if you see what I mean)

Ed had dozed off and seemed to think he was supposed to phone me. spent a nice 40 mins gossiping about travel - he's just spent a week in New York on company business, lucky git. He and Krissy are planning to go somewhere in Bavaria, along with his parents soonish.
This year I've visited Bedford, Wymondham and Manchester. Gee whizz
(No offence intended to mine hosts. You'll get a thank-you card just as soon as a: I can find the ruddy thing, b: I get a stamp for it.)

Doobie doo...I was at my favourite second hand bookshop at lunchtime today, celebrating because I got a 30 hour contract and don't have to find another part time job which I'd hate (procrastination works! i should have found one months ago!), and it had a 30% off sale. Which I didn't actually discover till I got to the "till" (er, old desk covered in books with man behind it.) So now I'm going to go to the new bookshop on the way home.

But anyway, I bought:

A Series of Unfortunate Events 1,2 and 3 - Lemony Snicket
I've skimmed one of them in a shop before and it looked fun. I like kid's fantasy.

The Book of Lost Tales 2 - Christopher Tolkien
My brother who doesn't read has just read the Silmarillion, so I feel I should read it soon too. So I bought this for when I get Tolkien-obsessed again, which is fairly inevitable.

Pot Planet - Adventures in Global Marijuana Culture
Er... what it says, I presume. 'Sgot a quote by Howard Marks on the front.

One Hit Wonderland - Tony Hawks.
I like skateboarding. Oh, hang on, that's wrong. Well, the one about the fridge was good.

Black and Blue - Ian Rankin
I'm collecting the Rebus books, having read them all from the library before I won't pay full price

Foundation and Earth & The Caves of Steel - Isaac Asimov
Classic scifi... Caves of Steel is a Daneel one, and they're particularly fab.

And all for a measly £12.80. Hurrah!
