What kind of slime....

....would steal from a charity box?

Some of the girls on my floor in the office have been giving up sweets for Lent for Trocaire (kind of an Irish version of Oxfam).

They've just counted the money and €30 has been taken out of the box.

*disgusted*

Sorry Daffy, but you are wrong.

THIEVES steal from a charity box, same as everywhere else.

I once had a situation at work where, in a short space of time, two staff members were dismissed for dishonesty and thievery.

At about this time, the beer money stopped disappearing from the fridge. (never fool with a aussie bloke's beer money).

Question remains, was the beer money thief one of the girls who were sacked?

I know! It was a tiny transvestite demon from outer space with a carpet beater named Devon.

Time to resurrect a vanishingly old thread at random. Did anyone see the episode of 'Due South' that had a charity box theft? It swiftly led into a fantastic show about the mob and Mounties just not cutting it.

Also it was the first mention of bullying via dead sea otter.

There are all sorts of thievery for a variety of reasons I suppose - some of which may at least be understandable even if we don't approve.

If it's my wallet that gets pickpocketed, I may very well be as angry as all get out, but it's just theft. If its the charity box on a shop counter, then there is a sense of social or community violation as well. A community ideal has been stolen along with the money.

Similarly, stealing from a work charity box, or from someone's desk at work, or a locker room, etc., involves more than just the theft - there is an unspoken trust that has also been violated. It's the outrage, rather than just anger, at this sort of thing that makes people start thinking about getting a rope and having an old-fashioned neck-tie party.
