I cannot help with information about the book, but as is the custom here, I will offer you some pie.

You may find that writing to Mr. Fforde himself will be your best way of finding out if there is an Italian edition coming in the near future. (His e-mail address is on the web site - clicky clicky to go there - remember to change it to a "proper" e-mail address!)

I have to say, I am sceptical about the possibility to tranlate the Nursery Crime books. I don't know about Italian, but for German I can say that most of the nursery rhymes are completly different from what we have. Not one of them has a direct match in the other language, even the themes and purposes differ.

Here is a short test: If I told you that Jack ate no fat, what would that tell you about his wife? Who goes to the cupboard for a bone? At what time of the day will you see Wee Willy Winkie? If all these question have an obvious answer in Italian, then you may have a chance for a translation.

Sometimes, I actually have to stand on a ladder to get my mind even to gutter level...

I hope you manage to get the book sover there soon, but I spose we do have strange nursery rhymes here!

It was very funny when my friend was reading Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince in German to keep in practice - what with Fleur's french accent in German and some of the strange bits and bobs that float about she kept asking what they were in English as she wasn't quite getting it!

Let see what will happen if you try to translate in english the "Divina Commedia" of Dante Alighieri...=)

At least by now, they had a few hundred years to try out different things...
