Cool, 9-19 was actually Chris's b'day, believe it or not!

I think Roberto should have worn a parrot costume to that Xmas party, but kept the custom shades...

Just to get back on topic, I find that the breakfast cereal packet re-reads pretty well every single morning. It's amazing what a numbed mind can consider diverting.

Egon.

How about the new one "Nation" is that worth a look? (Terry Pratchett).

Like most PTerry childrens' stories, it is quite a bit darker than you might expect.

The usual inventiveness and humour is present. It is more likely to appeal to those who enjoyed the Tiffany Aching stories, rather than the Bromeliad or Johnny's stories.

I liked it.

I liked all of those. :D

New PTerry. Now, to try and get hold of it with limited student funds....

Why not? Then my copies become much more valuable

And mine too.

The true value of a book lies in its intrinsic artistry - not its material value.

I only finished it last week but it seems that 'To Say Nothing of the Dog' will be very re-readable!

Some of the great literature is very re-readable. Things like 'The Count of Monte Cristo' but I don't have enough lifetime left.

Try reading 'The tales of Baron Munchausen' but leave it about three years before you re-read it. Similarly with Gulliver's Travels, and the romances concerning travel in space written before H G Well's and Jules Verne. They mostly reflect the way of thought then current and can provide an interesting insight into previous cultures.

Genesis of the Daleks? Very re-readable.

Oh, I never made it through 'Gulliver's Travels' when I tried it. It was either completely impenetrable or just so dry-smelling that I had to put it down immediately and turn to something more warming like Dickens or Wilkie Collins.

I had the same problem with Gulliver, and Dickens! Alas, I only got halfway through both Gulliver and even less for Hard Times.

Well, Dickens is marginal in most cases. 'The Moonstone' or 'Woman in White' are much better. I mean to try 'No name' next, once I've unpacked the wallet from the vault it's locked up in.

I still haven't decided which one makes me laugh harder - Betteredge or Miss Clack...

It's been too long since I last read 'The Moonstone' to remember.

Anything Douglas Adams, Pay It Forward, The Yes Man, Are You Dave Gorman? and The Eyre Affair, and I'm sure that when I get the second book in the TN series, those too ^_^

Am I which Dave Gorman? I understand it is possible to meet quite a few in the average year.
