Holy number of Summer Releases, Batman!

Sooo, I'm a bit late on this, (see my excuse in the pet peeve thread) but has anyone else noticed the ridiculous amount of new, exciting books/movies coming out this summer?!? First of all, all of the ones that have come out already, (Pirates, Shrek, and Spiderman, if you're into those) plus the Harry Potter overflow, (book 7 and Movie and game 5? In the same month?) Then Mr. Fforde's contribution to our bookshelves. We also get a movie version of the Golden Compass (Nicole Kidman will be a wonderful Ms. Coulter) .

Am I missing anything? Everyone seems to have found their muse this summer, what else is being released that I don't know about?

Quite amusing, I don't think that I'll be purchasing her to add to my book/movie collection, though. She might frighten my other books. She certainly frightens me.

On the movie front - Transformers, Oceons 13, FF4/2, The Simpsons Movie and my favourite for this year, The Curse of the Golden Flower.

The dvd year is overshadowed by Warners finally, FINALLY releasing Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet in August.

In books, everything is pretty much overshadowed by First Among Sequels, The Da Da De Da Da Code and Making Money for me.

Making Money isn't until October, though, I thought. Is it coming out sooner over there?

What about Neil Gaiman? He's working on a new book, but I don't recall if they've said when it will be published.

Neil Gaiman is probably in a constant state of working on a new book. But apparently "they" (y'know, them) are making a movie of Stardust, which has passed Gaiman's approval.

(Golden Compass is Philip Pullman, yes) I don't suppose they'd make a Subtle Knife or Amber Spyglass though, more's the pity, I really like the Subtle Knife. I can't see many soccer moms bringing their little kids to go see...

Spoiler! Highlight Here --> a movie where God dies

We're used to it.

I would stand corrected, but then I would not be able to reach the keyboard.

Unfortunately I was looking at my map (not Martin's inverted one) and assumed that as the thread referred "Summer releases" and then went on to mention stuff out now, that you lot below would get them in six months time so that they could be Summer releases for you as well.

As I am 1.54 metres tall, at least you can't accuse me of apart-height.

I was supposed to see transformers today, but I accidentally fell asleep and never got to the cinema!

Skids:
Since I am 1.8 and change cm tall, we are in fact apart in height.

Went to see the new Die Hard on Friday. While I was in america. It was a strange experience... comfy seats... leg room... relatively clean...

But one thing that really through me was all the people cheering... wowing, screaming, clapping... I'm used to my cinema visits being more sedate affairs - I think it was good...

As for the film. Total nonesense, but great fun, and great sfx! I'd recomend it - if only for the nostalgia.

Yippee kai yay!

Oh, was it decent? I'm curious to see it, considering Bruce Willis ain't exactly a spring chicken. Plus I'm one of the only girls at this festival who wants to go see Die Hard. I'll have to go with the brass section, it's the only section of the orchestra that remains predominantly male.

People generally make a lot of noise during action movies here. It makes movies with no plot save the bit of story that gets you to the next explosion more interesting and fun. :)
