Those vast frocks are nice to look at, but must have been hell to manage. I've recently got a book with a photo of a fashionable woman getting dressed. Two servants standing on chairs are holding the dress up with poles and lowering it over fashionable woman. I swear her crinoline is at least 8' in diameter.
