In Stratford there is a road that has two signs as you turn into it. The first is a 'one-way' arrow. The second is a dead-end.

Hmm.

Just as good is the sign in MacDonalds in Durham -

To avoid collisions customers should keep to the right when descending the stairs, and to the left when coming up.

Rightyo ...

In Norfolk, we have signs at junctions that point along small country lanes and are simply labelled 'by road'. No other information at all.
Presumably you are supposed to say 'good bye' to the main road as you set off between the fields...

I'm only 5'7", which is tall but not exceptionally so, but I have very long legs for my height. I therefore make most of my own trousers. This also means I can put pockets in them! Why, why, why, do clothing manufacturers so often assume that women don't need pockets?

Dave Rainbow... just you keep out of this one. I know your opinion, OK? ;-)

Because clothing manufacturers want us to buy handbags, which we then have to cart around and remember to pick up again when we put them down in shops/buses/etc.
Hence personal preference for trousers and rucksacks.
(Except on glamourous occasions, of course. I can do the feminine thing too).

H'mph. It won't wash with men, and it won't wash with me.

Unless, of course, I'm wearing the Ulla can-be-worn-as-outerwear basque, the evening trousers and the black jacket. But that's different!

If a man ever asks you to get something out of the pocket of his kilt for him:
JUST SAY NO !
