My opinions are probably set by the samples of Baptist and Lutheran that I have met.


Baptist: partyline, but she had nice legs and a nice personality, except for being unable to have her own opinions where it conflicted with the propaganda to which she had been subjected.

Lutheran:

1)I married into a family that has a large Lutheran component, including several ministers. I once attended some ritual of the Lutheran church for a child at age 14 or so and heard the minister say that God allows children to get hurt to teach the adults a lesson.

Not for this little black duck.

My wife had to restrain me to stop me getting up and walking out. It was ten years or more before I went into that church again and that was for my sister in law's funeral. The minister was her brother in law so we didn't get any crap like that again.

2) A friend of mine is a medico. He has always wanted to be one, and at age of seven or so he began to ask his parents where you contracted 'origin sin'? Was it something in the birth canal, or in the placenta?

Not being given sensible answers he decided that medical science was something he could believe in and began to reject the notions of organised religion. Which he said served him well when he worked as a medico in the island to the north east of New Guinea.

I can think of red hot pokers, a flame tree, and littel else.

I was thinking I'd grow rhododendrons... Even hellfire and brimstone couldn't kill them!

Water lilies would be more useful.
