Hamlet 2
Posted by: HouseInTheWoods (81.102.13.---)

We'll soon have David Tennant and Patrick Stewart in one staging and Jude Law directed by Kenneth Branagh in another, but the best part about this article
[arts.guardian.co.uk]
is the comment (warning?) that Hamlet 2 begins shooting in Mexico this month.

It can't possibly reach the heights of Hamlet is Back [www.thetrailermash.com]
but what do you think the plot would be?

And could we do better...?

After Bill Shatner's comment "Ophelia was a bit off" in his preamble to the soliloquy (The Transformed Man LP/CD), it must be Arnies gun-toting Hamlet (from (?)Last Action Hero) for the lead in Hamlet 2.

Oh, please please please see the Hamlet Is Back at the above link -- whoever made it spliced together scenes from Last Action Hero and other movies to create the trailer.

I came, I followed instructions, I saw.

Apart from feeling that any action movie with Arnie in it is about as plausible as any war or western movie with John Wayne in it I think it was well constructed.

I am waiting for the equivalent for Arnie that Mad Magazine had for John Wayne: namely, a red indian standing up against the skyline cheering - the caption was 'John Wayne is Dead!'

I came, I looked as requested, and I thought 'Not bad'

I still remember the golden robot and the 'cool satisfying whatsits' from the cigar commercial. Arnie doesn't do cigars 'cool' like that - his lack of finesses and savoir faire.

I imagine studio executives seeing this trailer and thinking, "Excellent, we'll finance it...what do you mean it's a parody?"

I saw Hamlet, played by five people- four of whom were female. Was somewhat confusticating to behold.

I saw Hamlet performed by three men (and then performed again very quickly, and then performed even quicker, and then performed backward) but that was part of The Complete Works of Shakespeare (Abridged), so maybe that doesn't count…

I regretted buying front-row seats to that show when they did Ophelia's drowning backwards...
