The Swifties Puzzle
Posted by: Jenn (12.242.209.---)

Can anyone help me out with this puzzle (I'm stuck on Button 1)? I'm probably thinking too hard on it, but I'm awful at puns, so I'm banging my head against my computer desk.
I don't think I want answers, just a nudge in the right direction? If you don't want to post, my email is Neliamne@yahoo.com.
Thanks so much in advance for help!
Jenn

Hello Newbies, one and all.... The Swifties are probably best left to some serious googling. Use swifties as a search term, and throw in a few of each one as they turn up. When you get an answer, click on 'cached' - it'll highlight the one you need so you don't have to search too far.

Pedant's corner - am I right in remembering that most of them aren't adverbs?

ok, now i got the swifties, can't even believe i missed that one...but i go to type the final answer into the box, and i click on the continue button, and it takes me back to the odd man out puzzle. i've made sure i'm spelling it right, and it's in all caps...i even tried to use the hypens (that didn't work either).
am i doing something wrong?
thanks,
jenn

***i feel like such an idiot...***
nevermind on that last answer, in a momentary lapse of silliness i found the clarity to try the other obvious answer...and it worked!
sorry to trouble,
jenn

btw, Magda - it wasn't the build quality of the Titanic that was the problem ("I've got a job ot of four by two here - they'll never notice...") - it was the professionaly trained nutters doing the steering that were the problem!

The build of the Titanic was part of the problem, amongst a zillion others. I don't have my reference books, so I can't give details. I agree that the biggest problem was that she was sailing too fast in the conditions.
Titanic was *not* travelling at full speed though, and I think that not all of her boilers were lit.
James Cameron's movie is *so* irritating. After an hour and a half of that childish romance, I was positively longing for the ship to hit the iceberg: if I had to watch a lot of inaccurate nonsense, at least it would be exciting, inaccuate nonsense.
My vote goes to 'A Night To Remember' any day. At least that was actually about the Titanic...

Six word synopsis -

"Rose!"
"Jack!"
"Rose!"
"Jack!"
"Glug!"
"Jack!"

I actually burst out laughing when I watched it. It didn't go down well with my then gf...
