The Chronoguard* Strikes!

I just noticed that the Fforum clock is different than mine, exactly five hours ahead of me, is it set on whatever time zone England and Wales are in? I did not realise how big the difference is. The worse Jet-lag (and the only I might add) was about two hours when I flew from my home here in Kentucky to California for a convention (it sucked but being two hours ahead gives a slight advantage on early morning lines when locals are still waking up)

That was way off topic but so be it. Anyway, what time zone is the board set on?

Hi Anton-Gavin, (and welcome by the way)

you can set your time zone yourself - follow the link to the Control Center, and under Forum Settings you can choose not only where you are, but also which season it is. Isn't that neat?

Oh, if only we could click a link & choose where we were- ah, that's the time zone thing, right?
Too bad, I thought we might have a teleporter in the works...

It throws me off as well, I'm also across the pond from our British friends-
may have to adjust those settings for myself...

I just found the time adjuster thingy! To bad I did not look at this thread first.

I just noticed that daylight savings is not an option (that is, PDT instead of PST). But that's ok because we fall back in just a few weeks...

I don't know, I like having it set to GMT, that way it doesn't look like half of the fforumites are posting at 1 in the morning.

Oh, daylight savings is there ("DST currently active"), but you have to set it manually.

And Tari, thanks to our Aussie friends, posting goes on very much around the clock. (Most shocking to me is seeing Martin posting in the morning - his local time! He's supposed to be a student!)

I have free lectures and internet access during the day. :P

Besides, I thought it was acceptable student behaviour to not go to lectures.

Martin says that it's "acceptable behaviour" for students to not go to lectures.
But students are duty bound to exhibit "unacceptable behaviour".
Therefore, Martin should go to lectures to keep up the tradition of behaving unacceptably.

He's trying 'learning by osmosis ' again. He just likes being a student and not striving to become one of the overqualified unemployed.

He can compromise, by going to parties all night and sleeping in lectures

Heh.

I go to most of my lectures. Not that it is helping my maths mark. :\

I think the problem isn't whether Martin is going to lectures or not--it's the fact that he was actually awake and active in the morning! A student isn't supposed to be awake before noon if he can help it! Take my example--I was up until 5 in the morning finishing a problem set due this morning, and do you think I went to class? (Well, I intended to, but that's beside the point.) Sleeping through one's alarm is a time-honored tradition among students, and I'm proud to have done my scholarly duty this morning!
