I had a wisdom tooth out yesterday and now I look like a lopsided hamster! The only thing that would have made things slightly more bearable was that I was getting 2 days off work.... Oh wait! That's right! The heating system in the school is broken and the school is cut of by flooding so everyone gets 2 days off! Typical!!!

I have decided that they are making it up and actually they just couldn't bear the thought of me not being there and so they shut the school so they didn't have to!

Just typical!!!

<slinks off for more ice cream, luke warm soup and co-codimal!>

You poor thing, I had my tooth-brush erosion filled today, (I used to brush enthusiastically when I was 12) my dentist is a bit malicious and said to me as he was attacking my poor gums " this is my favourite bit" and when I said ow a lot, he said " it is true love you know".

Dentist humour!

You have my sympathy. I had a molar out last year. I feel your pain.
I dunno, I had perfect teeth (well, perfect considering they are all baby teeth aside from three of them) until last year, then they all went to hell in a handbag.

I had some cavities filled last year, but remembering how painful the Novocaine shot is and knowing the cavities were pretty shallow, I asked them to drill them out without Novocaine if possible. Boy was I sorry!

Eeks! Thats awful! Thanks for the sympathy!
They tried to inject the seditive into my right hand, oops, left hand? nope no better. Oh okay, we will try the vein in your arm now! The anesthetist was busy at this point explaining to his student that he NEVER missed veins even small ones - it must be an off day.
errr??? Thanks!?

In an update on the school situation - I called in sick today as I wasn't meant to be teaching so I wouldn't miss to much, only to hear the place went on fire at lunch time as they had installed so many electric heaters due to the heating being broken that they overloaded the prehistoric electrics!!!

I just can't leave 'em alone for a minute! Still, no kids tomorrow but we all have to go in and work in the out of school care club?!?

Bizzare!

I think you now have a very good case to persuade your superiors to give you tenure. If only being absent for two days leads to the school first being flooded and than burning down, imagine what would happen if they dismissed you?

I would have asked for his student to monitor the anesthetics.

Still, at least you get an unexpected break, even if you have to share it. My siblings, who live in Oklahoma, were hit by a gigantic winter storm before Christmas that knocked power out for days/weeks, not to mention it took down almost any tree older than 25 years. The public schools had their winter break/Christmahannukwanzikah break/Winter solstice holiday from December 24th to January 1st. At least a week shorter than it would normally be.

Eeks! Thats not good!
We had to sit around all day in a near by hut and do some work and so there was lots of grumping! However we did have a nice lunch in the pub! I reckon the council will try and get the pupils back in tomorrow despite there being no heating and electricians working all over the building! I think the union rep is speaking to the regional rep tonight - ah the joys!
You couldn't write it!

:)

A hut? Is that where you normally send your bad students?

"Christmahannukwanzikah" - nearly lost a lung there, I was laughing so hard.

Then I remembered that scene from 'Hope & Glory' when the school was hit by 'a stray bomb' and all the kids cheered...and I laughed even more.

I had my wisdom teeth out years ago, which explains a lot of my life history, according to my daughter.

After that I had good teeth up until about 18 months ago when one broke, one had to be removed and several others just shattered and left jagged stumps on which I can lacerate my tongue.

However I still remember the pain of dental work, which is worse than major bone rebuilds, so I don't have it done unless really necessary - like 'You will die unless we fix this' type statements.

Time for an old joke:

Did you hear about the guru who refused Novocaine at the dentist?

He wanted to transcend dental medication.

LOL

Brilliant.
Oddly enough, that was what happened to me Bunyip, only not as bad. One broken tooth, then a little while later, a mouth full of cavities. Which is a lot less cool than the Blind Melon tune.

Apparently I clench my teeth a little too hard too, and that was how I managed to crack a second tooth...

So things would have turned out differently if Darth had only gone for dental work?
