Hiya Egon! Don't be afraid of Kitten, just move slowly and try not to attract her attention (actually, same goes for all of us).

Are we assuming here that it's a bad thing to attract Kitten's attention?

I predict a huge Sherlockian pie, but filled with nonsense, a portrait of Sholto, and absense of commonsense.

<Make sense of that if you will>

Hello to you too!

So are my spores, molds and fungus. Apart from Ernest, that is.

I think you'll fit in here just fine, lol.

Thanks. I'm a Mathematician and so clinically insane anyway.

Ah! That explains it!

Nah, Mathematics explains nothing. We're good at making new questions though!

Hi Egon. Yes, the pies were a bit greenish. I am surprised that you would want to make room, though. I think that Harry Harrison, just didn't know that there was at least 1 free room at Hilbert's Hotel.

Yay, mathematicians!

Between you, me, and occasionally Martin, we'll have to hijack a couple threads around here to talk about math problems.

That would be excellent, in the geekiest sense of the word!

None of my pi's are green. Is that a problem? I think one of the sandwiches just moved...

Although in my case it is usually to whine about maths, rather than enthuse about it.

I can usually follow the conversations though.

Why did the mathematician name his dog Cauchy?

It left a residue at every pole.

The sad thing is I actually understand that one now that I've had complex analysis. (Interpret that how you will.)

A mathematician was always bragging about how smart his dog was, so one day his colleagues convinced him to bring the dog and demonstrate. The mathematician said, "Ask my dog any math question and I guarantee he'll get it right!" So one of the others asked, "Name a knot invariant!" The dog replied, "Arf!" All the mathematicians laughed them out of the room. After they had left, the dog turned to his master and said, "Do you think I should have said the Jones polynomial?"

(For those not quite nerdy enough to know knot theory, the Arf invariant and the Jones polynomial are both tools used to compare knots.)

Ah. I can hold my own in Maths, although the PhD I'm working on is in Applied and I've forgotten a lot of Pure. Sounds like a great excuse to look things up on occasion!

What to do you get if you integrate one over cabin with regard to cabin? Natural log cabin by the sea.

Yes. If I'm going to not work it should be over something totally abstract!

I'll be quiet now.

In that case, I recommend a Rothko.
