Tell him I just got some book on design which features a lot about Escher - and includes details of those lizards that he painted onto thursday's car

I'm planning to catch up with Jasper in Dayton on Monday. It'll be a three and a half hour drive, but that's the closest to me he's getting this year. I'm planning to bring my dodo and a sharpie pen in hopes of getting him to sign her foot, as well as my book.

Good thought - I've a new digital camera that needs testing.

Dave:
Just checked the piles of books upstairs - 17+ 2 booklets (2 books belong to Sarah though). None of them have anything about Escher. That book (if I haven't imagined it), may well be at Sarah's house.

I have got a book about Escher, but it's definitely mine and not yours. Yours may be in the suitcase you left here, but I may have to ask David to help me look, since it's heavy.

Don't let me forget that your coat with the furry collar is in my wardrobe, will you?

Just got an email back from the bookstore, suggesting that arriving an hour early should be sufficient to get a seat. Naturally I'll try to be a bit earlier than that, to allow for traffic delays, extra time to browse the bookshop, dinner, and other incidentals. And yes, if Jasper's willing I'll try to get a pic of myself (and my dodo) with him, and post it online eventually.

need I remind you guys that I used to be a pro-photog?? OF COURSE there will be cameras going along. In fact, I'm even dragging the hubby along to make sure I get in a few shots and then I'll also have someone to cart the equipment and stand in line for me if need be! He's such a great hubby!

And I promise that I will get them posted on Monday. (Have that costume party to go to all weekend)

I think I'm gonna go buy a few archival quality markers... WHOO HOO!

Ah, Sarah, yes. It would have been your book I was looking at. Which probably explains why I don't remember buying one on Escher recently. I've kind of lost track.....

BTW, there's a bit more info on the US stops (or at least some different info) on the Penguin website:

Ooh, thanks Magda! Now I know exactly where it's happening and I won't need to go ask the help staff! YEAH! (I hate looking like I don't know what's going on...which, unfortunately is most of the time!)

I see that Jasper is reading *and* signing ..... no saying the words in chorus with him, now.

He should be pretty safe from me in that regard. I only just got my copy of LIAGB back, after reading it once and then lending it to several people--so I'm nowhere near having it memorized.

Besides, I'm hardly going to drive 3 and a half hours to hear myself read aloud. I can do that at home.

some people get to signings 1 hour earlier and that is just for straight signings...

the only thing with a talk (and no tickets) that i got to i managed to sit on the floor

I emailed the bookstore, and was told that 1 hour in advance was usually sufficient to get a seat. So naturally I'll be leaving here around noon, getting there arout 3:30 or 4, grabbing dinner somewhere, and trying to get there by 5 or so (2 hours early). If it's too early, I imagine I can find something to do for an hour or two in a large bookstore without any great difficulty. Although it could be expensive if I have too long to browse. Bookstores are dangerous places (for my budget).

This is a truth. I can never go near a bookshop without doing damage to my wallet.
