This will be in the semi-final of Mastermind on BBC2 next Monday at 7.30

I bet Katie would get them all right, the girl is a genius!

Us lot at the aussie discworld con website were asked to write questions for the Einstein Factor on the ABC...

Which kinda ruined all our chances of appearing on it and choosing DW as our specialist subject.

Oh well.

I'll just have to study up on the Armageddon trilogy by RR.

I got quite excited, I thought I recognised the name of the person doing the subject as coming to the Ffiesta but it was spelt slightly differently, never mind I did answer four of the questions, now all I have to do is watch it again, memorise the answers and replay it and make it look like I know a lot more than I do.

Am afraid I actually missed the Fforde-specific questions, but I did catch the bit where John Humphrys was getting a crash course in all things nextian :)

I just watched it on iPlayer this morning. Got 10 right before he answered them.

It was funny hearing John Humpherys trying not to laugh when reading the questions.

Can anyone tell me what the questions were? Unfortunately I live on the other side of the pond, so iPlayer won't let me watch the episode.

As a DW fan, it was not the first time I had heard of Jasper Fforde, but until that Mastermind episode I had him mentally earmarked as "sub-Pratchett fantasy".

It was only when I heard John Humphrys ask the question about the Unitary Authority of Warrington Cat that I realised this was something I could relate to...

I am now 3 books into the TN series and wondering whether I can wait till July (when next visiting England) for Something Rotten or whether I should damn the expense and order it from Amazon...

Yum, steak & kidney, my favourite.

I have damned the expense (but winced at the postage) and will shortly receive SR and the Big Over Easy...

1985 - things only stay on iplayer for a week... the episode in question was back in march.

As (another) DW fan, I remember when 'the works of Terry Pratchet' wasn't considered a sufficiently broad subject for mastermind. And there were at least a dozen books at the time.

That statement is either so deep it would take a lifetime to fully comprehend every particle of its meaning, or it is a load of absolute tosh. Which is it, I wonder?

That would explain it then.

Looks like I'm going to that special hell...

I remember when they had the Culture novels of Iain M Banks, I got something like 10 right, not too bad as I hadn't read any for a about 8 months when the program was on.

Things went to pot when they allowed the novels of JKR. They couldn't then stop other -minor - authors from being question subjects.

Minor is a bit harsh for someone like TP of JFf....
