Does this include lions, tigers, great white noahs, and similar things?

cats and rats and elephants
but as sure as you were born
The loveliest of all was the unicorn.

as the song only mentions one, this could be why they died out.

Could be that unicorns suffered the fate of the Dirac particles and fled on another until there was only one left.

Also, it was an Irish band, so numeracy could have been impaired by literacy.

Ah, Domino's got the promotion for BATMAN here- my bf works for them & gets to be the Joker on opening night, so he's pretty excited about that-
I may be the one doing his make-up, we'll see how that turns out...

The bad news is, they don't have any toys- how can you do Batman without toys?!

Fun!

I am also keen for that. Pity no one is going to do anything similar here....

the unicorn of the song is like Tigger.

In the books Tigger says there is only one of him, which leads to some interesting questions of evolution. But he also says 'bouncing is what Tiggers do best' implying that there are more than one Tigger species individuals extant.

This has been around for 100 years or so, and most people don't realise the inconsistency. Or , as a an emerging thought, Tigger is like Dr Who and the individual undergoes some metamorphosis to the next bodily incarnation. Maybe Dr Who is a Tigger at base.

Now , there's a thought to go boldly forward on, boldly.

Well, if there's only one Tigger and bouncing is what he does best then by definition that is also what the whole of Tiggerdom does best. Ergo, by linear logic there is no inconsistency. For deliberate inconsistency I prefer the theory that all AA Milne characters are regenerations of Christopher Robin but travel back in time to have adventures together. Nice.

Do I *really* have to be the pedantic one that points out the lines about:

"...Then Noah looked out through the drivin' rain,
Them unicorns were hiding, playing silly games,
Kickin' and splashin' while the rain was fallin',
Oh them silly unicorns..."

Dammit!

<slaps self silly>

"Sir Frederick Silly? I thought I was Sir Frederick Gass."

(brain freeze - haven't I quoted this Spike Jones bit before?)

]Yes. Why don't they do re-releases of Spike Jones and the City Slickers in order to provide erudition and amusement to MartinB's generation.
