On Meeting Celebrities.

YAY!! I met Darren from Powderfinger on the 11th! Freakin awesome.

I've also met a comedy trio Tripod.

Who have you met who could be considered famous (even though I doubt anyone knows who the above are), and did they live up to your expectations?

I've hugged Angelique Kidjo, and I have met some of the band members from the Irish band called The chieftans.I have also performed on the same stage as CW Stoneking, on the set before hand. Though, I have not met the fellow as such. Everyone I've met have been lovely, as were all the writers (Jasper, Terry and Neil Gaiman).

Someone I used to know, called them "Fowderpinger", not sure why.

Er - pardon my ignorance, Pirate, but I've never heard of Powderfinger or Tripod. A trip to You Tube is on the cards, methinks.
I was personal friends with Terry Pratchett for a while - till my ex upset him. Not too happy about that, as it was me who got him the contract. Not Terry, my ex, the bastard. I got to know Tel as a direct result of having the hots for Paul Darrow for years, and THAT came about because I worked right next to the quarry where they used to film Blakes 7.

This is getting sadder by the minute, because PD is personal friends with Terry Nation's widow and family (she does have a very attractive blonde haired daughter; there could be a connection there) and at the recent Nation tribute I actually got a kiss off Paul Who - on both cheeks!!! Look, it was important to ME, okay?

you got to meet Niel Gaiman? Lucky! I really love Stardust but was a bit disapointed by the movie.
Please excuse my spelling errors.

Yep, met Neil Gaiman and was told off by
Kitten for " simpering" or words to that effect. Still have not seen Stardust the film though.

Powderfinger (or as some say Fowderpinger) are an Aussie band for general info. Can't remember if they are from my end or the other of this continent.

Jazz! What an awful thing for your ex to have done! How dare he offend Terry, he's earned some bad karma there, I should think.

At the risk of becoming even more obscure, I once almost got run over by Red Simons. Tripod are a comedic musical group - last seen on the ABC on The Sideshow.

I met Jonty Rhodes once. About the most famous. :P

Also, if anyone knows of Kingsley Holgate, I have met him....

Old history here: I met Frank Muir and Denis Norden and Christine Hartmann, along with John Amis, Ian Wallace and Steve Race.

And for then obscure to the general public but to specialists important, I met Bart Bok in Perth WA celestial ages ago.

And I use to associate with Justin Murphy now on Collectors.

I nearly hit Jasper with a croquet mallet at the first convention and managed to shout at David Walliams and Matt Lucas when I met them backstage. I'm not good with celebrities....

I can't quite remember why- I think Matt Lucas was about to walk off with my programme but my attempt at a joking tone didn't come off too well!

As for celebrity: When I lived in Streatham (Sth London, just up from then Brixton Prison) the powers that be had renovated a housing building in Brixton and paiinted it a lovely non-aggressive mild yellow, almost @#$%& margarine colour.

Within a week some one had painted in big red letters:
EVEN THE QUEEN MUST WIPE HER ARSE

Sort of brought everybody to the same level, what.
