Jazz_Sue, I'm not from Oz! Let's start a clique of our own! Do we include the other heathens like the Americans, Kiwis, Canadians or just exclude everyone including ourselves?

Egon.

I just want to live somewhere where they have climate, rather than weather (not the Arctic circle, obviously.)

Dammit, I just want to see Queensland before I die!
Spiders, I can do spiders. I've got natural immunity - I'm medicated up to the eyeballs. They bite me, THEY die.

Jazz,

we don't have names like 'Puddle under the chair' but delightful meaningful names of places like 'Caddiburrawirricanna', Wooloomooloo' and 'Didyabringyadogalong'. We have dealt with Wagga elsewhere.

The oz language is also slightly different with words like 'wheredyagetyabloodylicenceyabloodymuginnabloodyraffle?'

However, should you scrape up enough for a passport and a one-way ticket I am sure that the fforumites of the great south land would welcome you into their lives and homes. That is, if we have any after the current interest rate rise.

I always wanted to visit the towns called Gluepot and Flourbag. We have some hilarious place names here in Australia.

i'm not from Oz either ;-) can I join the clique? I prove myself by knowing what Governor MacQuarie said about there being only two types of people in New South Wales...

Anyone who wants to join the clique is automatically disqualified.

It's that exclusive! Now I'm impressed.

Or does it operate on the Groucho Marx theory that "I don't care to belong to a club that accepts people like me as members"?

Being born a cornstalk I can affirm that there are still only two types of people in NSW.

Those intelligent people who are fforumites and the dross who are not.

Actually we operate on the 'Ernst Blofeld 1964 Clique Acceptance Protocol' which is slightly less stringent than Groucho but does allow the use of piranha fish in certain circumstances.

There are only 10 types of people in the world:
Those who understand trinary,
Those who do not,
And those who think it is binary.

If binary is based on two,
probably trinary is based on three
what does that make urinary?

'Course, unary isn't as good because it can only represent positive integers. Any other (positive integer) base can represent any (positive) real number. Obviously.

You see, to use unary you just draw the appropriate number of lines or whatever symbols you choose for the number you're presenting. It's just tallying really.

But with trinary you can count to scarily high numbers on your fingers, assuming reasonable flexibility....

bunyip didn't post "unary". (I know MS did, but it is a shame to waste by's joke.)

I know, but when have you ever known me to sit idly by when there's a math reference I could make?

Sorry bunyip, you raise a very…good…question.
