Question Regarding the Minotaur

I was just wondering if anyone knew if the pseudonym used for the Minotaur..."Norman Johnson" was an allusion to Stephen Kings "Rose Madder" character.

Welcome Teah. Have some pie. Sweet pies have a large pastry "S" on them, as do the savoury ones.

Someone will be along with drinks soon and perhaps even someone who can answer your question. I must admit that I just assumed that it was a very "normal" mundane name.

Or we could just make an answer up...
Norman Johnson was chosen as the Minotaur's alias in honour of mathematician and gamedicegeekbane Norman Johnson who's 'metagyrate-diminished-rhombicosidodecahedron' is possibly the funniest name in polyhedra.

Er, and polyhedra looks kinda like polyhydra, and there's some of those in, er, is it greek myth? There's something about some sort of cow-man too.
There's a logical path through that rambling, but you might need a ball of string and maybe a few sherpas.

(Plus there's something about anti-prisms on wikipedia, and *if* I was a massive geek, and needed a name for the air-rock band, that would have to be it's name.)

Now, now, BK.

Play nice.

Teah may not have seen you with a pointy stick

Hey, Skids, if you catch one side of the net I think we may be able to contain her long enough for Teah to escape, or get to the cake table safely.

Even netted i prefer that we have half a planet between us when BK has a pointy stick. ( See previous damage wreaked at Treehouse for one example.)

I'm starting to think that I missed some pretty exciting times back in the early days of the Fforum. Thank goodness.

I guess I'll just have to wait for another opportunity to test out my new neutron-powered super-repulsive non-biological super-pseudo-sonic ultra-net. Grrr.

If we net BK we may just have to take her polyhedra to polykneesia.

Remember: A BK with a stick is worth.......

Dont believe a word of it Teah, I'm very nice.
I have a note from my Mum to prove it.

Well, I don't really, but if I asked very nicely, she might write one.

Hah! I could tell you tales about the early days of the forum... when Men were Men, ontopic was unheard of, and T*m H*lt's name could be said without fear of reprisal, and all the posts were in one forum.

Its funny how things change.

Actually, we all have notes from Bonzai Kitten's mum saying we're very nice. It is something she does for us. Only in Kitten's case it's true, and she's adorable too!

I have to admit, I didn't think anyone would even read my question! It was a stupid question anyway, because as a friend of mine pointed out to me yesterday the character in "Rose Madder" was Norman Daniels, not Norman Johnson. Yeah...my bad...but thanks for the warm welcome, savory pie, gaping wounds from pointy sticks, offer of cake, and large stack of notes with forged signatures! :-)

It occurs to me that I am one of the oldest regular posters. Weird thought.

There are at least two people far older than you so don't worry about it.

You're welcome, Teah! Feel free to fill in the new member feedback form, the hjealth and safety apathy assessments, the triangular fan club application, and suggestion slip for future activities whenever you want. They're still filed in the old circular bin in the corner, next to the mousse. Just don't mess with the chocolate moose as he's grumpy today.

Egon.

Heh. I meant in terms of posting times. Nothing to do with my real age. (Which is low :P)

Hmmm, Norman = Norm = normal, Johnson... well, best not to persue that line of questioning in a family forum, eh?

A bit late to the party but I brought cocoa- who wants theirs spiked?

Should probably warn you that if I'm the one spiking it, the secret ingredient is cayenne...
