The death

It's been a while since I read the book, that i forgot all the comments I wanted to make after I finished.

Anyway... the death (the important one, not the other one) (can I mention the person's name? or should we still avoid spoilers here? but people here should know we are going to talk about it...) kind of hit me more than the one in HP5, I think it was more unexpected... I'd grown to like that character a lot...

What did you all think?

ya, BUT if you read the book from which that character came, you know that character died anyway.....

but yes, it's still a bit of a shock!

(I have to confess I've only seen the film)

But (s)he can die in the book, but not in the Well... that was why I was more surprised because (s)he was such an important character...

It was a bit of a surprise, yes, to have such an important and interesting character killed off like that. Still, I can see the plot reasons why it happened. And it was how thye would have wanted to go.

Don't suppose Jasper was in tears when he wrote that bit, either!

I cried when I read it. Very sad. And that's all I've got to say on the matter (sniff)

I was emailing with Jasper a couple of weeks ago and he had this to say about the whole thing:

"Most people make comment on how they are very cross that *character X*
dies, although to be truthful (s)he was always for the chop as *name of book censored*'s narrative demanded it - anyone au fait with *name of author censored* should have seen that coming!"

Of course I had to edit that a little bit for those nosey-Nellies still hanging about, but you all get the gist!

I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but let's just say Book 4 is going to be titled 'Miss Havisham and the Funeral Arrangements'.

This joke has been made using 100% environmentally friendly recycled gagstuff.

John, if anyone complains about the spoiler we can just kick them out of this forum
;-) they should know this is for people who have read the books...

And we were tip-toeing around actually giving the character away........

I still cried. *blows nose rather loudly into clean hankerchief which has rather an attractive raised scallop trim*

I'm developing suspicions about which characters it's most likely to be, but I'm happy to remain ignorant until next week.

That said, here I am on a no-spoilers-barred forum. Feh. I'm immune to spoiler disappointment. No second-hand description can take the edge off the prose itself.

What you just posted the title for book 4 and you haven't read the book?

well, you have guessed
;-)

You see, for all I know you could be joking or serious. So really I'm no wiser about the character's identity, haha!

Implication of the joke is that it's Thursday, but I'm guessing you mean Miss Havisham. I'm now grinning at the thought of a high-action dramatic chase scene ending with Havisham gasping, "Go, save yourself, I'd only slow you down!" You see, my anticipation of 'WoLP' is only sharpened. Take that, underhand previewing of the plot!

BJ - are you sure you've not read WOLP?

Um, quite sure. Perhaps I've read Jasper's mind with my fiendish telepathic powers, though. His work does fit in well with my sense of humour.

I shouldn't worry about any of this, by the way - as Jo could confirm, if she shared my feline curiosity and were on this forum, my amazing memory will have wiped all foreknowledge of the plot of 'WoLP' by the time I pick up a copy.

I'm only puzzled about the bit in the Jurisfiction chronicles where the UAofW cat reckons Next and Havisham emerged as "one of the greatest partnerships..."

Surely they barely did five things together...

Yep I wondered that - me I'm a touch miffed that another role model's hit the skidpan!

I was completely taken aback by the death of M*** H******* - far more impact than that of ****** ****** in the latest H**** P*****! As for her and Thursday being one of the great partnerships, Thursday does, under her tutelage, pass the Shadow the Sheepdog test only slightly married and quite unkilled!

I was quite upset that A**** S**** got killed off, too.

I may set up a memorial, since M*** H*******'s death seems to have overshadowed his, somewhat.
