Hello all. We're on an expedition from the Nextian Chat Fforum, and we're looking for lurkers. Any here?

Oops, sorry, I thought you were looking for lunch. Anyone got a spare sandwich?

hmm.... not exactly a lurker, but an irregular visitor... when I do pop in I tend to post something, but (according to the unread items) I was last hear at the beginning of Jan.

anyway, I hope you're not collecting us for experiments that are too extreme....

No, perfectly harmless medical testing. Just take this little pill, and try not to worry about the probe.

I am....I think. Just needs a 'therefore' in there and I will be putting Descartes before the horse. (Always like to start with a bad joke, then you will know what you are dealing with)

I mean I think I am a lurker. I assume that is what you call somebody who reads the fforum but doesn't participate. I can't say I'm keen on the terminology. Since reading 'Angus, Thongs and Full-frontal Snogging' a lurker will always be, for me, one of those spots that hangs about for days without coming to a head. Now there's a book which made me laugh a lot, which is quite sad. I bought it for my daughter, read it to assess suitability, and found myself in hysterics. As it is clearly written for pubescent girls, and I am practically menopausal (sorry, too much info there) I'm not sure what that says about me. A clear case of post-mature juvenility(!?) probably.

Anyway I have only recently discovered the fforum so I'm not a longstanding lurker. I am a big fan of all things fforde though and reading some of the posts just makes me long to read all the books, YET AGAIN, in order. Sadly (unselfishly) I lent a friend my copy of TEA and she is taking weeks to read it, which I just can't understand. OK, she told me she was a slow reader and I understand IN PRINCIPLE the idea of rationing out books to make them last longer but in the real world........delayed gratification? Sounds great! Get me some NOW.

Anyway, now I have taken the plunge I look forward to taking part in some interesting discussions.

Hi Mebbeido. I enjoyed to chatting with you too.

Thanks for the cake.

I'm sure you're this welcoming to everybody and that this isn't just because I mentioned I might really be a young scandinavian nudist!

Personally, I'd suggest you leave the lurkers alone.

Oh, they're nice and interesting in small numbers from a distance, but they tend to swarm you when you're not looking.

Hello Mr Lurker, was that a warning from an incredibly dangerous (and manic) one?

Don't forget invisible.

Not a warning at all, just a suggestion from experience.

And I'm not dangerous - I'm the Friendly Voice of Chaos.

I don't think I've ever swarmed - not knowingly anyway. But I will admit to lurking .... maybe ... possibly ....

*considers position*

Drat, I'm outed.

*hopeful look*

Did someone mention chocolate cake?

WWelcome Anne...most of the cake has gone, but there are still lots of ginger biscuits left. Pull up a dodo and make yourself at home.

*lower lip trembles*

Bu .. bu .. I was lured here with promises of chocolate cake. Bared my soul in the bright light of the forum and everything, and now all I'm offered is ginger biscuits.

*considers hiding back in the shadows again*

On the other hand - ginger biscuits are good dunked in tea.

*brightens up and puts kettle on*
