Stalingrad an error?

Dear ffolks,

There are a few references to Stalingrad in WOLP. Is this an error? If Lenin had gone to Wales instead, as we know from earlier books, has Dzugashvili in fact played a significant enough role in Nextian Russia to (a) have had that name changed to Stalin and (b) have had a city named for him by 1944?

Inquiring minds want to know!
