Am I crazy or...

Well, actually, there's really no question about that. Anyway, on page 57 (American paperback) when Thursday's accosted by the Thraal, there is a very brief exchange of:

"He says he doesn't like you."
"I'm sorry."
"I don't like you, either"...

between Thursday and "another man."

There is an almost identical exchange in "Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope" between Luke Skywalker and a nameless pair (actually, considering the fervency of SW fans and Lucas' own madness, they probably have names and ridiculously detailed backstories) of aliens in the cantina.

Was it intentional? Given Fforde's preference for English literature references it seems out of place, but the flow of the dialogue matches perfectly. It also hit me immediately, which may only be further proof that I'm a giant nerd.

I noticed that too, and I thought that I was the most crazed person on the planet. I actually e-mailed in to tell them that they need to mention that in the book guide.

And then I read the Special Features, where Jasper mentioned that he seriously wanted to include this little bit of dialouge from Star Wars. :)

So now you know.

Good eye, though!
