Tomorrow's planned demonstration demanding a safe crossing point outside the Eldest Little Geg's School, has had to be amended because police have said that the road is too dangerous for protesters to cross.
Irony (delicious irony!) aside, this could be good for the school. It's a nice short news bite with news appeal, a good starting point to spread the message. If you email that info to every newspaper and radio station within (whatever area seems appropriate), who knows what might happen.
"In the light of this we have decided to restrict our protest to the verge outside the school, where we shall walk with our banners. We must not cross the road, despite this being something our children have to do everyday because the police state:
'The organisers of this event have not sought this guidance and no risk assessments have been carried out. The A404 at the proposed location is an arterial trunk route subject to a 40 mph speed limit. On the Common Road side of the location is a sweeping left hand bend as you approach the school which thereby affords reduced visibility of both oncoming traffic and any potential hazards ahead.'"
Nothing, well I think there was a demo of sorts, but not even any local press coverage. I didn't go, hanging about on the side of a road with a bunch of people with no sense of irony waving unironic banners somehow didn't appeal.
