My husband and I are still puzzling over some of the half-remembered book titles from the East Carmine library (p. 89 in my edition):
The Most Serious Affair at Stiles - something by Agatha Christie?
Murdoch on the Orientated Ex-Best - Murder on the Orient Express
The Glass Quay - The Glass Key
A Missed Simile's Foaling in Snow - ??
Gawky Park - Gorky Park
The Science of the Slams - The Silence of the Lambs
The Pig's Leap - The Big Sleep
Monday Morning - ??
The Force Bear - The Fourth Bear
The Complete Sheer Luck Homes - The Complete Sherlock Holmes

Ahhh...thank you. I kept thinking of "Smilla's Sense of Snow" but it didn't quite fit. Wikipedia has set me straight: my recollection was the movie title.

Thank you -- my husband had suggested "mourning" instead of "morning", but we didn't recognise the title. Neither of us have read Reichs, but my sister is a huge fan, so we should have asked her first.

My. I did read that book but in Dutch, where the counterpart of "Miss" is omitted from the title, making it even harder to match it with the SoG name.
Thanks for this one.
