We have had our first major bushfire of the year and it isn't even summer yet.
I've just heard that 85,000 hectares (roughly 200,000 acres) have gone up in flames. That's a lot of skippys, a larger number of bunnies, and an unknown as yet quantity of baa lambs and their aunties. My daughter lives at Nuriootpa which was in the line of the fire and the town was being evacuated.
We now have a population of Birman and Burmese cats. a Bernese mountain dog, three mixed breed moggies two Norwegian Forest cats and there's no partridge in a pear tree.
That is because the tree died of unknown causes and I think one of the feline population got to the bird.
Also a visiting Samoyed but he is asleep and doesn't count.
