This is a pain in the wossname. Having to skip about from forum to forum like a snipe in a marsh, and the damn things don't stop saying 'new' no matter how many times you look at them. I have to click 'mark all read' to get rid of 'em.
Wouldn't it be better just to archive all pre-2003 entries on the TN forum and thus re-activate it?

Erm, I suspect it was the fact that 5345 of the buggers gets a little too much to handle - thus archiving them on an 'active' fforum will just boojum that as well... I'm using multiple windows as a a way of dealing with it...

I meant *archive* them, as in 'stick in a cupboard where they will be forgotten about until thrown away years later'. Stuck in a bloody great zip file. Put onto a read only forum. Trashed, if need be.

Just understood what you meant, wasn't reading terribly well.
As an aside, I'm quite interested in how many of the wee buggers were mine. I reckon that I must post something like 50 a week as a minimum, and have done since mid-August, giving me over 1000 posts in total.
Maybe I should get a hobby, or something...

We should be able to reopen the old forum. Some forums have tens of thousands of posts with no difficulties. The problem was actually a hard-drive glitch at the main server so they are trying to find the 'mother of all back-ups' to put it right. The 'new' flagging glitch does intrigue me, though. The elves are hard at is as we speak. Or read. You know.
The news seem to be working OK now .... dunno, maybe it was a-oh-hell that was wrong. This is the default position.
People often ring me at work and say, your software don't work, I can't print things, and it is nearly always because their printer is glurked, and our software is fine. Except when it isn't.
I keep reading PSD's sig as 'How much material do you need to make marmots?'

I read the 'news' today, oh boy,
Infesting all the threads with red letters.
I found the threads they marked were read.
Well I had to complain,
The fforum's got boojummed again.
Woke up, fell out of bed,
Switched on the fforum to read new threads.
Had a post, scratched my head,
Wondered if I should start a new thread,
I posted here again, oh boy,
One thousand posts and I'm still going strong,
And though my posts are rather small,
I wouldn't like to count them all,
I wonder how many posts you'd need to fill the Albert Hall?
I'm sure they'd bore you all...
