A Dodo-esque Dream

So, in my dream, it wasn't dodos what were genetically engineered as pets, it was humans. (And, no, not by dodos, but by other humans.) I had just arrived in town and had to pick up my pet human from a sort-of daycare. I had forgotten that I had one, and was surprised when I got there because these captive humans were just staring vacantly and hurriedly shuffling about and making "plock, plock" noises. Apparently they were all earlier genetic models of humans. Anyway, a daycare worker told me that I had to call my human out by name or she/he would not recognize me. Just then I remembered that my pet human was named Wink, so I called out "Wink" and one human broke from the pack and made a bee-line for me, plocking happily. She was shorter than me, though not by much, with long blonde hair and flowing rainbow-colored hippie clothing. I fed her cracker crumbs from my pocket, which was quite enough to satisfy her appetite, and then we went home and I woke up. I told this dream to my fiance, who does not read the Thursday Next books, and he seemed rather concerned.

Concerned. Yes. That sounds like the right sort of response .... here's a tip. If offered a jacket that ties up at the back .... run.

I'm not sure. Those padded cells are practically designer, and so comfy...

(Well, not quite, but people have made some pretty serious attempts.)

I do know enough people qualified to have you sectioned, if you'd like a bit of peace and quiet. Not sure if you'd get any chocolate though.

It's quite all right. I'm slowly getting there on my own anyway...
