Christmas Competition RESULTS

Look at this for punctuality - I've even managed to give you the results in the right month, let alone year...

Right, after much deliberation (including printing out proper marking sheets and all sorts, and even a proper debate over a bottle of wine and a nice dinner) the judging comittee (myself and the delectable Ms Violet) have reached the following result...

Drum roll please

In third...

Lovelorninja, with a grand total of 131 points. The judges were paricularly taken with the terrific combination of bizarre deaths and Christmas in the first answer. LLN wins the German edition of In Einem Anderen Buch.

In Second...

Competition regular Splat, with a total of 185 points - with particular praise for the masterful synthesis of all five answers into one grossly over-inflated mess. It's sort of the interrobang of competition answers - entirely wrong but incredibly hard to resist... Ali wins the proof edition of BOE.

Which leaves first place, and the runaway winner, with 217 (and a rare clutch of 6s - out of 5 - for his comment regarding boring cases) - and the winner was....

.... bet you can't bear this, can you?...

....want the answer?....

....really?.....

...the thing is....

.....why should I tell you.....

...you could just read the thread again and figure it out....

...cause I'm sure the winner recognises himself...

...although it has been a while....

...I really ought to run these quicker, oughtn't I?...

...anyway....

..the winner is...

LQ, with a rare and appreciated outburst of humour, lateral thinking and enjoyable daftness. Congratulations - and a copy of the illustrated Polish hardback will be on its way as soon as he gets round to sending us his address...

And talking of which, we've decided to send everyone who entered a postcard in recognition of their efforts - so could you all drop me your address, please? If nothing else, I can sell them to spammers to recoup the cost of sending all these bloody books out...

Well done to those three, and I hope Lenny can read Polish. If not, it's a heck of a way to learn.

Yay! Well done Lenny, class act (very funny indeed), and thanks Ben and Vi and everyone who entered. It was fun.

Oh and entirely wrong but incredibly hard to resist? That's almost certainly the best (and most endearing) review I'll ever get, cheers Ben!

Pollacks? Where?

(What is that line in Hamlet again....)

Nice one Len. Even though I think some of thoseanswers were made up on the spur of the moment....

Just to bump it again, we still need the adresses to put the well deserved prices/postcards into the post. We're especially waiting for the winners of the books (apart from Ali, because we still have her adress from an earlier win), i.e. LQ (who hasn't even claimed the postcard he won in an earlier competition) and Lovelornninja.

Thanks to everyone who already contacted us, postcards and books will be mailed as soon as we've got everything, so that it can be done in one big queuing at the postoffice thing.

Do you think if I sent an email saying I was LQ and giving my address I'd get the prize?

I'd be quite surprised if he had moved downunder in the meantime.

You wanted Lenny's prize. Have it. I can't read Polish. I can read German (a bit anyway) so I'll take that!
