Well, I prefer Magda's suggestion of SO 27. True, it's very much an in-joke, but aren't they all?
There are two problems with "LTRA-TEC". One being that it looks like Ultra-Tec, as dave pointed out, and the other being that it sounds like some kind of font or graphic design company. Brings to mind Letraset. letratec.com, in fact, belongs to an Argentinian graphic design firm. I think even Fforde fans might not parse it as Litera-Tec.
So have you talked your husband into letting you paint the van with Escher lizards as well? That would leave any Fforde Ffan in no doubt as to the meaning of the plates.

You could always stick a lizard to the back window.
What's a custom license plate frame like? Yours specifically, obviously. You'll have to forgive me if that seems like an obvious question - I'm young and English.
(That's my excuse for a lot of things.)

There's a hole in my creativity bucket and it's all leaked out.

there will be pics of course!
and Sarah B, I'm keeping the design under wraps because I ordered a few extra...one for me, one for Jasper, one for Jon (cuz he's a good bloke and we're partners in crime) and one to give away in an upcoming contest in WN...more details on that later!
