Thanks Jon

Just to say 'Thanks Jon' for organising yesterday.

Top skills meant everyone arrived on time. We took the train to Haworth (and didn't let Eddie look out of the window - in case Kate reads this). Top food in a nice pub. Glad you reserved a table though. A wander up through Haworth to the parsonage and finally a nice pint of Landlord before we headed home...

A Grand Day Out.

So grand you posted twice!

Indeed, a splendid day. I even managed to get sunburnt. Luckily I'd managed to get eddie covered, so he was fine.

My legs hurt this morning though, from walking up that hill!

Yep. Not sure how that happened.

I avoided sunburn and feel ok today. I guess Eddie helping me up the hill did it.

hmm. You had the help, I had the buggy and rucsac(s)...

Those ginger buns were superb. Microwaved, with a dollop of ice-cream on top. Bliss.

Um, I seem to have grassed Eddie up (see other thread) and I forgot about the ginger buns. Claire bought some, and we had them for tea. (Without ice-cream).

good job kate doesn't read the fforum, as eddie hanging out of a train window was on the list of things marked 'DO NOT LET HIM DO ANY OF THESE THINGS', quite near the top, underlined twice.

AAAAAWWWWW

I missed this :((((((((

And I don't believe you let Eddie hang out from the window!!!!!!!

Dave, what do you call 'new photos'? I went to your site to check it, saw there were 'new photos' on the main page, then the last ones are summer 2002!!!!!!

Eddie will be a grown man before I manage to see him...

I want pics from your outing!
:)

In defence of Dave and Rob, and to preclude a spousicide, I should point out that Eddie didn't actually hang out of the window, as such. He just poked his face through the toplight a little bit (and the train went so slow he was hardly in any danger).

I will post pics as soon as the film is developed, and I believe Sarah had Dave R's digital camera with her, so we may be quite well covered.

Just adding my thanks to Jon here, and also to PSD for being a perfect gentleman and pulling my trolley over the cobbles to spare my dodgy wrists. I'd prepared for everything except cobbles!

The foul-weather gear stowed safely in the bottom of the trolley was not, in the end, needed, but we had a spectacular thunderstorm about half an hour after I got into the house. I was most delighted to have missed that.

I have just had a cup of coffee from my "Wuthering Heights" Penguin facsimile cover souvenir mug, and I am feeling that all is currently well with the world. A great day, and one which I hope will be repeated!

The boy was fine. He was just following the guard's instructions regarding getting the best view of the choo-choo.

One of the memorable moments of the day was Eddie eating chocolates. Let's just say that Jon accurately described it as a whole-body experience!

I'm SOOOO Jealous! Sounds like you guys had fun though. I WILL make it to one of these things sometime. As soon as I find out when we're coming to Europe, we'll have to plan something.

Thanks to Jon for organizing a splendid day out, that did nothing whatsoever for my bank balance, what with train fares, lunch out, museum entrance fees, the clock, 3 big books, sweets, postcards and framed picture I bought. All right, you didn't force me into any of the above, but it's still your fault and I don't regret a moment (or penny) of it.
It was lovely to meet everyone and by GSD - I never knew Haworth was so STEEP !

Ah, yes, but all downhill coming home. The trouble now is, after such a successful outing, topping it next time. (Well, OK, a WOLP signing will top it, but you know what I mean). There isn't really anywhere else of Nextian significance North of Swindon ..... any chance of Thursday having to visit Hardwick Hall or Fotheringay Castle, d'you think?

Fotheringhay's in Northamptonshire - still miles from you. And very little there anyway - a mound and a bit of a wall is all that's left although the church is will worth a look-see. Did you mean Chatsworth (thinking along the Mary Queen of Scots connection)? Cos I wouldn't mind an excuse for a trip up there!!
