must have been the same person who did 'Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves', as Robin arrives near Brighton, spends half an hour on the horse and ends up at Hadrian's Wall. (near Scotland, for our American friends). Later on he fights Little John on Aysgarth Falls in Yorkshire.

Hmmm. Nice scenery, shame about the plot.

It's pronounced "Cthulhu".

Well, I didn't find the originals of 'Doom/Nutwood', but I've found the photocopy masters, and I've remembered that my housemate has a scanner, so we're more or less in business. I don't think he has spare Net space (or any Net space, for that matter), but if I can get the pages scanned in, I can at least mail them to people. Something for the weekend, I think.

Run!! Run!! It will destroy your mind!!!!

Actually, scarily enough, The Doom seemed to attract more sci-fi members than it frightened away...

(Back on the fforums for now - decided to spend the day up on campus to avoid killing the DS manager - she wants to move new people into our flat before we've all moved out!)

John;

I've got plenty of spare webspace laying about doing nowt, so if you want to share The Doom That Came to Nutwood with the world (and I think you should), now's yer chance!

Btw, something huge and horrible, with tentacles, as it might be an enormous jellyfish, was washed up on the shores of Chile last week. There was speculation that it was of a Cthulhu nature, but it was finally decided that Robert Maxwell had been found at last.

did anyone see Graham Norton last night? He was demonstrating a new gadget which allowed you to slice a hot-dog in such a way that it looked like an octopus.

I want one. A gadget, not graham norton.

Aaargh, don't mention octopuses... er... octopods... um... those vile eight-legged marine life forms. I once cooked one for my (then) husband.

Never again! I might as well have cooked Cthulhu!

Lol - I once watched a backpacker I was staying with trying to cook octopus in the hostel kitchen. It was not a pretty sight - particularly as he managed to get black ink everywhere!

OK, I've found 'Winnie the Pooh, and Cthulhu too!"... I'll probably add it to the fforum either tomorrow or on Monday.

Wonderful! I shall look forward to that with great interest, and if it's as good as I think it will be, I shall probably divert Fiona here. :-)

Eeeeeeexcellent. And I'll see about scanning 'Doom/Nutwood' in on my housemate's machine tomorrow/Sunday (Sunday more likely) and mail it to the thursdaynextians email address for you, Jon, to put on your spare webspace, thanks very much for the kind offer.

And I'll see whether I can find a filksong about Cthulhu that I once wrote to the tune of "Blues In The Night", and post that in the fforum, too...

Somehow I suspect that bookjumping into Lovecraft would probably be even more dangerous than Poe.

Sassafrassin' Windows XP... I've just about barely finally managed to persuade my housemate's scanner to take on the pages of 'Nutwood', by scanning it half a page at a time and then reassembling each page. Stupid thing kept cropping the pages off at arbitrary points. So, anyway.

I now have 5 JPEG files ready for sending to Jon - I'll post again here when I'm done, and Jon, do your crazy thang!

B*gger, b*gger, b*gger. B*gger storage space is what I need, 'cos a free Hotmail account just doesn't allow enough of it. So basically, 'Nutwood' is going to have to wait until tomorrow, when I can wave a disk with the JPEG files on in the general vicinity of my PC. Dagnabbit.

Patience, dear boy, patience. Have you tried reducing the size of the jpgs in PhotoShop or similar?

Well, I tried a variety of things in PhotoShop without success. Finally I tried using Jo's email account, which can actually handle files larger than 1024K, and I've just relayed the piccies through m'PC and on to the thursdaynextians email account. So they should be there now, waiting for you! Let me know, hmm?

So they are. And having read the first page, I feel the effort may well have been worth it.

I'll upload them to a suitable webspace tonight. I shouldn't think RupertCthulhu has been taken as an AOL user name.

There's something a trifle disturbing about that device.
