That's the only reason they get children for, isn't it?

Just asked my mum. You're right, it's the care home thing. Should have asked before I posted my comment, sorry

My parents really know how to build up my self-esteem....

Hmm. My school was very big on Kevins. And Michaels. And Anthonys. Oh, and Patricks. I want you to guess what kind of school that was. (Oh, yes, we also did a nice line in Henriks and Jans as well. Nice lads - taught me how to swear in Polish).

Hmm let me think. Poles? Irish? Taught by male people with specific areas of baldness? Nope, you've lost me.

Back on the Dave thing, has anyone else noticed that people named Dave have thinning hair (no matter what age they are)?

This reminds me of that Dr. Seuss story about the women who has 23 children and they're all named Dave.

I would have been David had I been born a boy. But I wasn't, so I'm not.

In my grade four clas there were four Peters and one Peta. Got a bit confusing....

Wasn't Peta the Blue Peter dog that had to be replaced after it died two weeks after being chosen? Nobody was sure how to explain to the kids, so they didn't...

Now listen up kiddies. Peta is dead. Deal with it. Move on.

iirc the dog was Petra?

and as for thinning hair, I think I must be the exception to the rule. lots of hair, very thick it is too.

And Eddie is the only Eddie at his nursery, and I don't know of any others in his age group.

Petra, IIRC. There was also the tortoise Fred who turned out to be a girl so became Freda.

But Petra was the German Shepherd that was on the show for years and years and years . . . iirc the puppy that died and got replaced was a golden lab (Goldie? Honey? -- it's all a very long time ago)

Exactly. They didn't want to upset the kiddiewinks when it died, so replaced it with an identical dog and didn't mention it.

Confused now. I thought it was Valerie Singleton who died and was replaced by a clone so that nobody would notice?

I still have a Blue Peter Badge somewhere. I never earned it, mind (true confession time!) - I took it off a goodie-two shoes neighbour who had diligently collected the required amount of milk bottle tops in part-exchange for keeping quiet about some dark blackmailable secret I'd learned about him. Trouble is I've forgotten what it was now, thirty-odd years later.... shame really since he went on to become quite a successful newspaper editor....
