Jon _
That's a good suggestion: I've saved copies of a few symbols temporarily in the past (for example when keyboard of the the computer to which I then had the most access lacked any way of generating a £) but didn't do so as permanent files after I found out how many of teh ones that I wanted were accessible through Character Map. The website for a company called Arc Music Distribution _ a specialist in "World Music", from whom I bought several of the CDs concerned _ should include that symbol. Unfortunately the software in the computers here at the library won't let cut & paste while I'm looking either at the fforum or at any other web pages, only when I'm actually working in one or another of the 'Office' programmes, but I should be able to do so on the machine at work when next I go there...

Do you think "Le Poulet Diablo" would break any copyrights?

Wouldn't it have to be "diable"?

Maybe. I don't know everything about French, much less words like "demon" or perhaps "overlord".

BTW - Shadowmancer is number two in the children's charts this week.

What's #1?

You don't happen to know when the next Lemony Snicket comes out, do you?

HP5 is number one.

Certainly do know when the next Lemony Snicket is due out - the Carnivorous Carnival, book and tape due in October 2003 - bibs blurb as follows:

The word "carnivorous", which appears in the title of this audiobook, means "meat-eating", and once you have heard such a blood thirsty word, there is no reason to listen any further. This carnivorous volume contains such a distressing story that consuming any of its contents would be far more stomach turning than even the most imbalanced meal. To avoid causing discomfort, it would be best if I didn't mention any of the unnerving ingredients of this story, particularly a confusing map, an ambidextrous person, an unruly crowd, a wooden plank, and Chabo the Wolf Baby. Sadly our time is filled with researching and recording the displeasing and disenchanting lives of the Baudelaire orphans. But your time might be better filled with something more palatable, such as eating your vegetables, or feeding them to someone else.

Followed by the Slippery Slope, book and tape due in May 2004 - no bibs blurb available.

I've got the whole set so far (up to the Hostile Hospital) on tape - most of them are read by Tim Curry - they are just brilliant! He's also reading the next two titles (as above).

I've read the Carnivorous Carnival – there are some great freak-show jokes in it. I might just SPOIL one – one of the freaks is merely ambidextrous, but considers himself to be freakish. Sunny still has her one word wonders. I’m surprised LS hasn’t repeated any.

Does that Tim Curry read the “For Beatrice” bits?

Oh yes - a great start to the tapes. And he sang the Volunteers' song in the Hostile Hospital - just wonderful!

Tim Curry is ace ! His entrance in 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show' is one of the best in any movie, ever.

Altogether now:

Dave R as Riff-raff? Jon as the Criminologist? AAC as Magenta? There are endless possiblities here.

hehehe I did play Magenta a couple of times as a stand-in...my roommate was alternating as Dr. F and Janet. Her boyfriend made one of the best Dr. F's I've ever seen.

And Jon could be the criminologist, but I've seen his pictures...he actually has a F***ing neck! lol

by the way, I've been kissed by Tim Curry!!

Went to a play of his here in DC and he comes out through the crowd singing and as he's coming down my aisle, he tripped and fell in my lap so he crossed his legs and wrapped his arms around me like he meant to do it and continued singing...finished his stanza, kissed me on the cheek and quickly apologized and got up and danced back onto the stage.

My hubby groaned when I made sure the DJ played "The Time Warp" at our wedding reception. And yes, people actually got up and danced to it. Surprised me to no end when Jon's uncle John got up and danced it with us! He's a folk singing, granola turned high power businessman type. So it made it all the funnier!

My little home city of Spokane used to show TRHPS every Friday and Saturday night at midnight. So the summer of '88 was spent going to shows constantly. My Transexual Transylvanian costume consisted of black leggings, a white shirt, black cardigan/jacket thing and matching pink with black quasi-leopard spot bow tie and cumberbund...homemade, of course!

And my hairstyle of that moment was a bi-level asymetrical bob with baby bangs (fringe). It was dark burgundy on the bottom and underside and reddish blonde on the top. And it was permed on top but not overly curly. I'm going to have to try to find a picture of that one. I did have it a couple of colors that summer, so I'm not sure which ones the picture shows. Oh and I had a pierced nostril at the time too. BEFORE it got all popular. In fact, I was only the second nose piercing this popular place had done. :) I was a trend setter, you see! LOL And no, I do not have a pierced nose any longer!

I'm a respectable woman now and can even look professional when I want to! But that summer sure was fun. I drove an ice cream truck during the day and played with all my freaky friends at night....no worries, just lots of fun. To be 19 again...Oh, those were the days!

It's amazing what I don't know. How can a pierced nostril become unpierced? Do they just heal up if you don't keep anything in them?

depends on how long you've had one...I only had mine for about 6 months (then I became a nanny and had to look presentable - no more freak gear! LOL) . And I had mine placed on the meaty part of the nostril, not in the crease. Therefore, it was easier to heal.
