In order to be a truly equal opportunity fforum I felt it time for a post entirely dedicated to dogs and their humans.
My canine companion, Butler, a Keeshond at 5am est. woke me up so that I could enjoy the full effects of the thunderstorm. He accomplished this task by landing(all 55 pounds) on my stomach. Mission accomplished, I was awake.
Dinner time for Butler in my house starts at 3pm. He runs back and forth with his dish to make sure that I don't forget to feed him. If I wait to long, 1 min. past 5 is too long, he throws the dish at me. Fortunately, it's plastic and doesn't hurt much if it hits my shin.
My brothers mutt, Rosie, followed him down to Newmarket amidst traffic etc. and didn't get run over. Sadly, she passed away last year, which doesn't seem to be a good omen for me!
And Tracy, Butler sounds gorgeous!

You know that urban myth about Chinese restaurants that prepare dogs and cats? Well here, this sick person put cats and dogs in this Chinese restaurant freezer, and the owners got closed down! Just goes to show how sick some people are.

You thought you had problems misreading the title of this topic, AuntSassy. For ages I could've sworn we had a topic entitled "a bit of excrement" on this forum...
In the town where I was born...
No really. I'm serious. There was a Chinese resturant that was closed down every 6 months or so for having cats heads in the garbage cans out the back. They'd clean up the place, re-open and get done again. the scary thing is that they never actually went out of business from lack of custom.
How many weeks has it been since I told you about the 'lion curry' incident? Does anybody want me to post it in the fforum again?
There was a story in one British newspaper (perhaps the 'Daily Mail'? It was one that I found & read at either the launderette or the barber's, rather than one that I bought...) quite recently about a firm based in Belgium which sells coats made from cat-skins & dog-skins: One of its managers admitted that although some of those pelts are imported from Asia, and some come from animals that were "farmed" locally, others are from pets that get stolen for the purpose both on the continent and here in Britain!
Our dogs are quite small and harmless, and capable of being quite cute. Bob isn't capable of much else, being a happy idiot, but Mia has devious depths, and if thwarted will sneak off to do dirty deeds in dark corners.
They are both pedigrees with long kennel names and expensive insurance, but we don't show them, for they are wild and unruly. Bob is a cavalier spaniel and Mia is a Bolognese. You can see a picture of them both in the last issue of WN (in the Haworth story).

I don't own (keep?) a dog so don't really feel qualified to comment on this thread, but I'd just like to say I think it's marvellous how we've managed to go from Chinese food to curries and now to Italian in the space of three postings, heh.
