If you set a clothespin of fire, and then let it burn out, that you can write with the charred ends of the clothespin?

Should we gather that you have experimental evidence to support this hypothesis? Does it work for plastic clothes-pins as well as for wooden ones? (Kids, do not try this at home!)

My mother always warned us that if you play with fire, you'll wet the bed. Probably has no scientific basis, but something to consider...

No. plastic clothespins just melt. And I am not experimenting as we speak. Just something I thought of while being bored.
Nicky- I haven't wet the bed in about 22 years and I am certainly not going to start now.

Being a big fan of the reverse hypothesis I just sat down and split a load of pencils lengthways with a modelling knife and tried to use them to hang out my washing. They actually work! Wow! Unfortunately I've now got pencil lines down either side of me smalls though.
