Producer for a tv channel. (and you won't find any clues in the domain name!)

What’s it like, MM?

My job, or the channel?

I write and produce continuity links.

Apparently maximum temperatures only apply to livestock in cross-channel ferries. So that's okay then...

(Note to foreigners and other strange beasts - this sort of thing explains far more about British politics than any amount of reading newspapers can tell you)

I take offense at being lumped in with "other strange beasts".

Foreighners are neither strange nor beasts. We therefore can't possibly be part of "other strange beasts".

One of my co-workers on the other hand, is definitely strange and most definitely a beast.

So you have been lumped with strange beasts at work anyway?

Dave - I used "strange" and "beast" in lew of a stronger set of adjectives which would be more appropriately suited in this case but which would be censored out of this all ages fforum.

I also used the word co-worker in very loose terms. She does not "work" (except at causing trouble) nor does she contribute anything.

Sounds like little Rachel who kindly puts stones in Sarah's keyhole.

What exactly is being co-worked on that she doesn't contribute to?

I am behind with all this stuff ---

Well, Tracy, at least PSD didn't refer to us as "the colonies" ... my sister's British mother-in-law always refers to Canada in this way.

Of course, she also complains that there are too many "foreigners" in Spain (she has a condo there). When my sister asked, "But, aren't *you* the foreigner in Spain?", she replied, "No, I'm British".

Defies logic.

Jen - she's a mother-in-law. By definition they defy logic.

Jen, when my grandmother immigrated to the US, she told all her friends back home she was living in a condom on the beach. :)

This seems relevant to the topic (which means I should probably put it on another thread). I don't know who actually wrote this, but I was given a copy by someone at work - when I was actually working that is.

THE LOST DR SEUSS POEM

'I Love My Job'

I love my job. I love the pay 1
I love it more and more each day.
I love my boss, he is the best !
I love his boss and all the rest.

I love my office and it's location. I hate to have to go on vacation.
I love my furniture, drab and grey, and piles of paper that grow each day !
I think my job is really swell, there's nothing else I love so well.
I love to work among my peers, I love their leers and jeers and sneers.
I love my computer and its software; I hug it often, though it won't care.
I love each program and every file; I'd love them more if they worked a while.

I'm happy to be here, I am, I am.
I'm the happiest slave of the firm, I am.
I love this work. I love these chores.
I love the meetings with the deadly bores.
I love my job = I'll say it again. I even love those friendly men.
Those friendly men who've come today, in clean white coats to take me away !!!

Does anyone know the song 'They've come to take me away, ha ha!'? That would apply in this case. And in PSDs case as well...

They're coming to take me away, ha ha, they're coming to take me away, ha ha, ho ho, he he, to the funny farm, where life is beautiful all the time, and I'll be happy to see those nice young men in their clean white coats.....

Nope, never heard of it.

To the happy home with trees and flowers and chirping birds and basket weavers who sit and smile and twiddle their thumbs and toes and they're coming to take me away ha haaaaaa!

Are they the same chirping birds that happily wash your windows?

I don't know why I know this.
