<was told the morning after the night before, seeing as the earth moved around 2-10 am>

<slept right through it in girlfriends bed, as earth had moved more than once earlier that night>

Well, you shouldn't eat tandoori prawns, pickled onions, cabbage, and drink Burton's Ale before going to bed.

A statement actually uttered in my childhood home: "was that an earthquake or did dad just crash the car into the garage again?"

It appears that this has eventually gone off-topic.

<wonders if it is worth salvaging...>

You can resurrect it by mentioning food.

<For oldsters: wasn't that the most common thing said in Kobe on the morning of 18 January, 1995? Did the earth move for you?>

<Holds up a sign saying, "MIND THE ELEPHANT".>

<Glances up at sign.>

<Puts sign down, grumbles, mutters darkly about lack of organization, shuffles through piles of signs on the ground, and finally emerges triumphant.>

<Holds up a sign saying, "This diversion from "actions-only" is not so atypical for this thread. There have been plenty of times we've gone off the rails, but we always bring it back on track after a bit. Actually, I'd say this thread is one of the most consistently on-topic threads in the whole Fforum!">

Was it you or the elephant who went 'triumphant'?

Sounds more like the elephant who is named 'Mind' to me!

As far as being 'on topic' I think that this one has now reached a point in its travels that it could no longer find its origin with both hands. However, it is coherent, which is far more important than just being consistent.

things that don't include a mechanism for change over time in response to contemporary effects tend to die out. So the 20 odd threads we are currently able to maintain with some regularity allows for the eveolution of the mind, which is important.

I think I beginning (sic) to ramble, so bye!

<Gets a bright idea!>

<Knits a projective plane to complete the nonorientable trifecta, and throws it in the Klein bottle.>
